Nagbe extended in Columbus. Thru 2025 with a 2026 option. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/darlington-nagbe-signs-contract-extension-with-columbus-crew Scuttlebutt is it is a DP level deal. I hope below TAM level, but that is currently unknown.
Crew repirter on twitter says Nagbe is below TAM level, so Crew will have 3 U22 spots next year instead of the 1 they had this year.
Yeah, confused by that as well. For purposes of the U-22 initiative your 3rd DP needs to be a Young DP or a player that could be bought down using TAM (so not making over 1.7 million or so a year). But if he isn't a DP at all then it doesn't matter because him not being a DP means they only have 2, which opens up the additional U-22 slots.
I'm confused whether you meant brought below DP using TAM, or below maximum wage not using TAM. MathLS is hard.
One clear example of MLS being MLS. Just give the damn 3 U22 spots to each team without the restrictions of having a YDP or TAM or DP withing TAM range. I don't know what was so difficult of just giving everyone 3 U22 spots, period.
Atlanta United announces squad updates: Miles Robinson and the club still negotiating a potential renewal. pic.twitter.com/OJ8ULLUNkS— Felipe Cárdenas (@FelipeCar) November 17, 2023
No, $1,683,750. As in, he can be bought down to non-DP (TAM) level. Sorry if that was unclear. Nagbe was over that level this year. Scuttlebutt was the Crew wanted to try and keep Zelarayan after Rossi, but since Nagbe could not be bought down ($1.8 mil), Lucas had to go. I'd expect a buydown + another DP in Columbus.
Sources: The Chicago Fire has agreed a deal to acquire forward Tom Barlow from the New York Red Bulls.Deal worth up to $400k GAM ($250k up front + $150k add-ons).Barlow, 28, had 3 goals in 34 apps (20 starts) for RBNY this year. Scored 2 playoff goals. https://t.co/ah2TQBbIqc— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) November 27, 2023 LOL
Assuming he will be the backup for their new big DP 9, seems like a decent move (250k is not much risk). Sometimes players just look better outside red bulls system, or vice versa. If Barlow is the starter though
Rapids exercise options on Andrew Gutman, Calvin Harris, and Ralph Priso Rapids decline options on Sebastian Anderson, Steven Beitashour, Oliver Larraz, Jack Price, Abraham Rodriguez, Gustavo Vallecilla, and William Yarbrough. Additionally Luis Diaz and Diego Rubio are out of contract and have left the team. Danny Leyva's loan will expire and he'll return to the Sounders (there was no option to buy in the loan). The Rapids are in negotiations to bring back Sebastian Anderson, Oliver Larraz, and William Yarbrough. Danny Wilson's last contract announcement was a two year deal covering the 2022 and 2023 seasons, with team options for 20245 and 2025. He is not listed in the Rapids press release as one of the players who's option was exercised, but he is listed as under contract for 2024. https://www.coloradorapids.com/news/colorado-rapids-announce-year-end-roster-updates-x1120
Burgundy Wave can confirm Danny Wilson did have an option for 2024 that was automatically triggered by him hitting certain performance metrics over the guarenteed years of that contract. Must have had a clause in his second contract with the club. https://t.co/iaM0JzFxs0— Burgundy Wave (@Burgundywave) November 28, 2023
Most MLS players have contracts with a team option. That means that at the end of the year, the team decides if they want to renew your contract at a predetermined salary or cut you.A common experience for players at their end of the season meeting…You say goodbye to your…— Tesho Akindele (@Tesho13) November 28, 2023
Doesn't it work like that in all leagues? If a team decides to cut you then you need to find another team either in the same country or abroad. It's tough but part of the game.
Team options aren't a thing in most of world football. The Red Bulls had one on Kaku a couple of years ago that they thought was valid. He and his agents didn't. The Red Bulls tried to exercise it, Kaku told them to ******** off, and he's been in the Middle East making gobs of money ever since.
Blackburn Rovers announced today they had signed their leading scorer to a contract extension…including a team option year
