Time to start a new thread, as there have been some rumours in the last couple of days on reinforcements this summer.

#1 most talked about right now is Monaco and Brazilian midfielder Jean Lucas. Originally played at Flamengo, he moved to France in 2019 to Lyon, where he played but was loaned to Brest for a season, and afterwards sold to Monaco for 11m. This season he only has 6 appearances in Ligue 1. He's 24 years old. Amorim seems to really appreciate his qualities, and the player even posted on his instagram story a picture of a lion, which has speculation flying. Monaco reportedly want 9m but we're negotiating a lower fee.

    Latest news/rumours:

    - the Board is negotiating with Marcus Edwards to raise his release clause from 60 to 80M euros
    - we're looking at RWB options and the same names from January are on the list again: Tariq Lamptey, Van Ewijk and Sacha Boey are on the shortlist.
    - we've agreed personal terms with Jean Lucas (Monaco midfielder); Amorim wants the player to reinforce the midfielder and an initial offer of 5M was rejected, Monaco wants 9-10M, we're willing to go to 7M
    - The sale of Palhinha is set to give us another 1M euros in objectives, while Plata (Valladolid) is gonna give us another 2m euros
    - Bragança set to extend his contract until 2026, he won't play until next season due to long term injury.
    - Vinagre set to return to Sporting from Everton, but not expected to be part of the squad
    - Stuttgart won't be activating the 15M option for Tiago Tomas; we're willing to negotiate for between 7.5-10M euros though.
    - Nani's son joins our academy

I can't imagine anyone ever triggering a 60M clause for Edwards let alone an 80M one. He's got talent for sure, but he's like playing his own game out there on the field most of the time.

I hope the English factor and the performances against Spurs/Arsenal/Juventus helps.

A Bola says Ugarte is practically gone with English clubs willing to pay his release clause of 60m. With us missing out on UCL we were always going to sell someone. Liverpool in particular seems to be the frontrunner.

We're set to buy another 10% for 2M for completing another 30 games for us, which puts his total percentage at 70%. A 60M sale means we would keep 42M, with the other 18m split between Famalicão and Fenix from Uruguay.

Also recently some rumours that we set a minimum 20m price tag on Nuno Santos. His numbers have been important, but I feel we need a different threat on the LWB ever since we sold Nuno Mendes. He's also 28, might be the only time we get 20m.

We also still have to receive most of the transfer of Porro, he was technically loaned with obligation to buy, similar to how Nuno Mendes was sold. So another 40M.

Let's hope we have 4 or 5 clear targets that will upgrade the squad in key positions. Amorim for the first time seemed to publically admit we need a striker, we're negotiating that Jean Lucas midfielder from Monaco. And we need another LWB, RWB urgently, perhaps even 2 on each side unless Gonçalo Esteves gets a chance again. This system depends on wing backs that play like wingers, Esgaio and Nuno Santos are not the best 1v1 and tend to just cross all the time, making our offense totally predictable.

Yeah I’d be pretty happy with like 30mil tbh. Still, good for the board to start putting in stupid release clauses, never know with how the market is going.

Some rumours that we're after 20 year old forward Marcos Leonardo from Santos. The striker has a transfermarkt value of 15m but Santos want between 22-25M euros. Obviously a hard deal but Santos needs money so we might be able to negotiate. Just wonder if other clubs with more money could come in here.

Anyone watching Porto vs Famalicão? Ivan Jaime would be such a good player for us.

With another game today, we acquire another 10% of Ugarte's rights for 2M.

That means we now own 70% for a total transfer of 10.5M euros. We can only buy another 10% from Famalicão if he plays another 30 games. The other 20% belongs to Fenix in Uruguay. Of course he's heavily linked with a move away to England this summer, with a 60M euro clause.

Looks like Leão has a new deal with Milan. Very curious to see whether they announce a deal to pay what they owe us, over 20m is expected.

    More on Leão deal.

According to RMC Sport, Lille will pay Sporting €19.6 M, and Rafael Leão himself will pay €1 M. AC Milan agreed to repay Lille up to 90% of the value through a future transfer. In the end, Lille will only pay €2 M and they maintain 15% of a future Leão sale...

Where is the disconnect occurring in terms of our signings? Players get brought in and quickly they are either in with Amorim or on the outs. Seems like he doesn’t get a say on some of them. Are some signings for Viana and some for Amorim? Kind of a mess.

From his words they're already planning for next season. Last summer it didn't really work with the signings from within the league imo except Morita

Eduardo Quaresma to return to Sporting, Hoffenheim had a buy option but they won't buy him. He only played 85 minutes this season... he also failed at Tondela.

He needs to return to the B team and help them get promoted to 2a Liga, depending on his performances maybe he can get called up to the A team. But clearly he hasn't been able to hack it in the Primeira Liga or Bundesliga.

Yeah, way too many rumours and agents speaking out. They're gonna do his head in. 60M or nothing IMO.

We need to certainly look for a replacement, on top of all the other positions we need to strengthen.

Question, would you guys keep Tiago Tomás as an attacking option or try and sell him?

I’d sell him. We need a striker but I don’t think Tomas is the answer. He looked good at first abroad but I think this past year was pretty underwhelming.

Amorim chose to have only one striker in the squad rather than keep Tomas. I'd be surprised if he makes the squad.

First Liverpool, yesterday Tottenham and today it's PSG who allegedly agree to pay the 60M euro clause for Ugarte.

Seems inevitable, I only hope this gets done quickly so we can reinvest. Don't want another Matheus Nunes case.

I usually try to stay positive but I can’t help but feel like we’re going to be shit again next year. I’m not opposed to selling Ugarte, we need to strike while the iron is hot with our dealings, but if he goes that’s another major loss. We have way too many holes to fill in one summer IMO.

Stubborness, cheapness, whatever you wanna call it, unwillingness to invest and upgrade over the last two years feels like it’s gonna set us back another two years going forward. And I don’t see any prospects coming from the Academy any time soon.

Essugo is too green. We already needed 1 midfielder before, now we need 2. That Jean Lucas guy from Monaco seems to be almost a lock Let's hope the scouting gets it right. We're gonna need to splash the cash this summer.

Yeah we’ll definitely need some big investment next year - Amorim is pretty publicly upset about this years transfer market, hopefully that helps move the needle.

realistically we need new GK, rb, lb, cdm, cm, winger, and strikers to immediately walk into the 11 to be competitive.

What worries me most about the Ugarte sale is after him, only Inacio and Edwards have any real value. And we absolutely have to sell Edwards this year imo while English clubs still think he’s good. Lots of work to be done this summer.

also, please please please don’t blow all this money on musrati.

Our main striker finishes the season with 5 goals in the league.

    Backup strikers of our rivals:

    Musa - 7 goals
    Toni Martinez - 5 goals
    Banza - 10 goals

    Enough is enough.

Bragança renews his contract until 2027. Hope he comes back strong after his horrible injury
