Yep Big Bear…the best coach can be young, old, male or female, from a background like 5 of the 37 players on the roster, or 10 or 1, connecting, teaching, achieving, coaching, mentoring is not predicated on age, ethnicity, or gender…its about ability, knowledge, empathy, trust, experience, and other things. Seems very un inclusive to exclude somebody because they don’t look, sound, and speak like others in the organization…that certainly does not sound diverse or inclusive. Sounds the opposite of that, right? If I only want people like me, isn’t that discriminatory? Maybe you can enlighten me, educate me? Keep focusing on the demo’s and not on ability. It’s the winning formula. Very familiar with all three politicians and the overlap of socialism, woke ideology, and support of biological men in women’s sports and spaces. Among other things…♂️ A great example of this is USD…they should be competing for WCC Championships…7 years in charge, 10 wins in the last 4 years…0 WCC wins in the last two…but checks all the boxes except for coaching aptitude…pretty sure she met the criteria you presented. Its about ability, and not the other BS.
Based on experience of club players who had interactions during recruiting process. Quite unprofessional and bordering inappropriate.
…… and back to topic: Purdue very close to announcing their hire. Only waiting on background check to come back. I am told the hire will surprise some. It is a male.
I'm saddened to announce that despite celebrating my first birthday in West Lafayette, something that I thought might give me the inside track, I will not be announced as the new HC of the Boilermakers' women's soccer program. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! P.S. Hmm, now that I think about it, I guess I also celebrated my first Thanksgiving in West Lafayette. Maybe I should have emphasized that as well.
I only know of two coaches who interviewed for Illinois State; one D2 coach in Michigan and a mid-major D1 assistant. No idea the status of the search. No clue on BC or Miami.
Boston spoke with the assistant at wake forest. No follow ups since but with it being a holiday weekend I would think next week at earliest there might be some updates.
that would be funny. because the last assistant from wake did a great job at Boston college. . . Heard Miami had told the players they would have a head coach in place within 10 days of letting the staff go. that obviously didnt happen. heard Kansas's top target was a coach that was in the sweet 16. I doubt they will get him but now they can probably move on to more realistic options.
Back to hot seat once again, I would presume a lot more movement who is offered and hired this week and next as most want to get it done before dead period and Christmas break vacation if possible. Interested t see who the new hires will be and thee movement that is created from them.
for the 2023-2024 school year: Women’s Soccer Dead Periods November 6–9, 2023 (Monday through Thursday of the initial week for the signing of the National Letter of Intent) December 15, 2023 – January 5, 2024 note there are no restrictions on electronic communication, so email, texts, FaceTime, social media, etc. are still permitted. And while an in person meeting with athletic staff is not permitted, there is no restriction on meeting with academic or admissions staff.
Patrick Baker to Miami would be a terrific hire. He knows how to coach at that level. I sometimes wonder if a P5 hiring a coach from the local area is lazy hiring and recruitment of a coach when they can go national in their search, but in this case hiring someone up the road would be an outstanding choice. Miami and Kansas were inquiring about Brooks Monaghan at Memphis but looks like he will stay put. Wise of these programs to at least reach out to him. Would think Brooks and also Katie Shields would be on every P5 list that has an opening. Only name I have heard so far about Boston College is Ashley Phillips from Northeastern. Have to imagine that job could attract some talent.
Put P5 Coaches in a one bid league and see how many would constantly play in the NCAA tournament. PB constantly give P5 teams good games. Would be a very good hire. Not outstanding, but much better than some of the latest HC hires by P5’s.
