Just heard 2 other starters for Senegal are out because of injuries, that was a very physical match, hopefully they’re still feeling it on Friday.

This squad's defense is better than the 2014 team's. Offense is not as good though. This squad has more depth, especially at CB and midfield. In midfield there's Moises, Gruezo, Mendez, Cifuentes, and Franco. The 2014 team had Oswaldo Minda and Saritama as subs...

The depth is key. Without depth the team's tactics fall apart.

But man this current team with Caicedo and Noboa would be a monster.

Nonetheless this team is so young that we'll fill in the missing pieces soon enough.

Felipe Caicedo would be the missing piece. Noboa off the bench would be clutch.

Throw in Edison Mendez and this squad would ball out.

How does that Netherlands team compare to 2022 team?

Would you guys say we can compete in a sense of how our 2014 team competed against them?

We can definitely compete but if want to win Plata needs to have a good game.

If he's on, he's going to feast against that slow ass Dutch defense.

And I hope we do punch them in the mouth because I'm tired of these European elitists downplaying South America as a whole and saying Senegal will beat us easily.

I'm 100% convinced people don't watch South American soccer and go based on European fanboyism.

In what universe is Argentina less than Denmark?? If anything Argentina should have an easy path to the semis with their attack and gritty defense.

As for us they think we're just some physical players with no passing skills whatsoever yet our passing and movement is what made Brazil and Argentina struggle against us. If it wasn't for that sold ref, Brazil would have lost their clean record against us.

Yeah, I don’t get it either. I was reading some Reddit comments earlier and there was this particular one with close to 7k likes that said Qatar would beat us…solely because they are Asian champions.

How do you equate Asia > South America? Competition is not even close.

This video has some crazy scenarios and see us going out against Brazil at the 15 minute mark.

If we are to look at the past, then Denmark will top their group, simply because they have never won a friendly game vs. France, but always had a solid grip on France when something is at stake in tournaments WC/Euros/Nations League, the stats say that France have won 2 games vs. Denmark in the Euros (1984 in France when they became Champions and 2000 when France also became Champions) and 1 in the WC (1998 in France when they became Champions), while Denmark has won 4 games vs. France, 1 in the following WC 2002 that got France eliminated in the last decisive game in group stage and 1 in the Euro 1992 (in the last decisive game in the group stage, when Denmark became European Champions), and then both home and away this year in the UEFA Nations League. France and Denmark drew 0-0 in the last WC in Russia when France once more became Champions.

As for Denmark vs. South American teams in tournaments, then Denmark has only lost once, 2-3 against Brazil in the WC-98 Quarter Finals (in France, when France also beat Denmark 2-1 in their group and became Champions by beating Brazil 3-0 in the Final), Denmark has beaten and eliminated Uruguay twice in the group stage at the WC, by 6-1 in 1986 and by 2-1 in 2002, in the last WC in Russia a, in compare to now, rather low-quality Denmark team beat Peru, as for Argentina then Denmark has never faced them in a WC but beat them 2-0 in the FIFA Confederations Cup Final in 1995.

I think Messi is injured. But why didnt they start McAllister?
Saudi Arabia just made the Mexico and Poland game that much more critical.

I think we have a very good chance at winning this game, our defence is one of the best if not the best in South America this time around, so if we can keep this guys away from our net and if Valencia and Estrada can find the net, we can definitely win this game.

Yea,a lot of posters fanboy the Europeans,I mean is Netherlands and Senegal better than Brazil and Argentina, laughable but I love when we’re the underdogs,it was the same in 2006 WC ,we were supposed to lose against Poland, with most of the stadium filled with Poles ,the rest is history.
