GAME NOTE: this will be Nashville's first home game of the season and the first ever game at their new stadium, Geodis Park, the largest (30,000 seat) soccer-specific stadium in the United States and Canada.
I'd be thrilled with a draw, but I see a 2-0 defeat coming. 6 game winless streak looking possible. Next easy game is against Miami in late May. Yikes.
IF the Union score first then I can see a possible result. If Nashville leads I don't see it happening.
I don't do the prediction stuff anymore but at this point we have had several seasons of competence so I always expect us to get a result every game and consider it a failure if we don't.
https://phillysoccerpage.net/2022/04/26/time-to-give-jack-mcglynn-a-run/ Now the Union media are jumping on the anti-Bedoya+Flach train I've been on since February. Give me those two in tough away matches. But McGlynn needs to start over Flach in home matches where teams will continue to just muddy up the middle of the field and easily defeat the Union sweat-based attack.
I felt that article was a bit mild to be called "anti" Bedoya Flach. Anyway I certainly agree on bringing in more offensive competence when the team is down and the opp is parking the bus. I would feel more inclined to tweak the starting lineup if we weren't generating chances. Right now my main concern is all the sitters/breakaways the front 3 seem to be missing.
McGlynn, Aaronson, and Sullivan all started for U2 today, and then caught a plane to Nashville to join up with the rest of the team. Seems like Curtin doesn’t plan to play those 3 much on Sunday.
Better than I expected. Take the point. I wonder if this will be a team that plays better on the road because teams go for it and allow the Union to play their style.
Big result in tough circumstances! I thought we were in big trouble when they stopped play for the VAR check. There are good ties and bad ties. I have seen a lot of bad ties as a Union fan - but that was a good tie! And with that result, the Union hold on to a slim lead for first place in the East.
This a fair assessment. If we're going by Montreal and Minnesota's trips to Subaru Park. Uhre opening his account is big too. Plus he turned around and beat the highest paid defender in MLS too. Gazdag, Carranza, and Uhre had improved chemistry too.
