All the panic at the end was self-inflicted. Somehow, when leading by one goal late in a game, we always stop trying to string passes together.
I'm no fan of his, but what other manager in U.S. history has won 3 CONCACAF trophies, qualified for the WC with essentially a game to play, and got out of the group stage? Arena and?
I thought it was a great move from Berhalter to bring on Reyna to keep the pressure off the defense. Wait, what??
Also, Zimmerman ate up almost every one of those long balls into the top of the box there at the end.
That's it and that's all that matters. I'm pulling for the upset against the Netherlands just to see how many people it sends over the ledge.
Still a bit baffled at how much the US looked complacent after 60' or so... It's win or go home, you need all the padding you can get.
I don't think they were complacent as much as they were tired. They were definitely complacent in the second half against Wales.
Unfortunately we had to burn three subs and two of our substitution windows because of injuries. This time I can see why Berhalter was very reluctant to make further subs until very late.
The #USMNT just played 270 World Cup minutes and the only goal they gave up came against an MLS striker.— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) November 29, 2022
