Adding in Cincy's 1-1 draw v Seattle... Points Wins GD (Games remaining, Max Points) PHI 64 18 +46 (2, 70) MTL 59 18 +10 (2, 65) NYRB 50 14 +8 (2, 56) NYC 49 14 +14 (2, 55) CIN 46 11 -+6 (2, 52) ORL 45 13 +2 (3, 54) MIA 42 12 -11 (3, 51) ------------------------------- CLB 42 9 +5 (3, 51) ATL 40 10 -4 (2, 46) CHA 38 12 -8 (4, 50) NE 38 9 -4 (2, 44) Cincy moves up a spot, but Orlando now has points in hand against them and can catch them quickly. Seattle is basically toast. Yay.
Ive never said he is a great coach either or that I want to give him a contract extension becsuse I wouldn’t
Of note: Toronto v Miami 7:30 PM BMO Field Toronto taking points from Miami tonight could really change the complexion of things for us.
Friday, 9/30 TOR 0:1 MIA Points Wins GD (Games remaining, Max Points) PHI 64 18 +46 (2, 70) MTL 59 18 +10 (2, 65) NYRB 50 14 +8 (2, 56) NYC 49 14 +14 (2, 55) CIN 46 11 -+6 (2, 52) ORL 45 13 +2 (3, 54) MIA 45 13 -10 (2, 51) ------------------------------- CLB 42 9 +5 (3, 51) ATL 40 10 -4 (2, 46) CHA 38 12 -8 (4, 50) NE 38 9 -4 (2, 44) Thanks for nothing, you syrup-chugging c**ts.
Miami has the tiebreaker with us, so we have to out point them. Let’s say they get just 2 points in their last 2 games (which is less than their current PPG), Cbus would need 6 points in their final 3 games. And that’s a favorable scenario for us. Not looking good.
The flip side, however, is that if we win our home game this weekend, we're level with them on points AND with Orlando. And Orlando has to go to NYC this weekend. So it's entirely within the realm of possibility that by the end of play Sunday, we're in a three-way tie. We'd be the caboose because of tiebreakers, but we'd only need to pass one of them. And we play Orlando on Decision Day. It's also possible that we finish the weekend six points behind Orlando, three behind Miami, and we're buying out the liquor stores.
I’ve never defended him only brought up valid points that the roster sucks which is the General managers fault. coaches get too much blame and too much credit . This isn’t new but it’s easy to blame the coach. I think Porter has not done a good enough job but i think the GM has been substantially worst. I think we get a new coach with sane players we will get similar results . A better coach is NOT going to win the supporters shield with this roster.
We're not making the playoffs. If we were good enough to get 6 or 7 points in our remaining 3 games, we wouldn't have blown all those late leads along the way.
It’s funny how the team gets around 1.2 PPG or so all season, then at the end of the season with 5 or 6 games to go people think they can get 2.0 or 2.5 PPG to make the playoffs. Teams don’t just get twice as good the last month of the year.
But hey, we're hard to beat. Coachbot gets a string of 1 point games then wonders why other teams are passing us.
I see where you're coming from Kyle, but in our case, we've been teetering on the line in a bunch of these matches. Yes, we've been bad enough to blow leads, but in order for that to happen, you have to be good enough to get leads first. And sooner or later, the law of averages has to kick in, doesn't it? OK, enough with the blind optimism and on with the numbers. Dude -- THIS IS MLS. And there aren't five or six matches left, there are three. THREE. The most mediocre of MLS teams can win two out of three. We're not done. If we win today, we're in a points tie for 7th, we could wind up in a points tie for 6th, and we could potentially be one point behind Cincy for 5th. It's not like it's out of the realm that we win a home game against the New York Red Bulls. Also, I love how you're so convinced that the numbers for us are prohibitive, but the teams around us that have basically the same numbers as us are just too tough of an obstacle. Miami, Cincy and Orlando aren't any more likely to win out than we are. That's why we're all so close together.
All of this may be true, but... After last night even if the Columbus Crew win all of their remaining matches they still need Miami to not win at least one of their remaining two. Caleb has put himself in a position where no matter what results his work produces, he no longer controls his future.
I remember going around and around in circles with you about literally the exact same thing last year. How’d that turn out? Also, this is just lol: Followed by: You expect us to beat NYRB without Mensah and Cucho? You also expect us to win in Orlando? We have three wins against playoffs teams all year and you think we can get two in three games while Orlando and Miami simultaneously shit the bed? Possible? Yes. I think it’s fair to say that would be a wildly, possibly even blindly, optimistic scenario though.
There was a do or die game just a couple weeks ago against Miami, and we choked, as always. Since then, Miami had been in control. They are better. Neville deserves a lot of credit after being widely mocked to start the season. He did the impossible and not only benched Higuain, but then brought him back into the team and got him to be a hard working team player. Unbelievable, Porter could never do that. Never. And Pozuelo has been a masterful signing.
lol I just realized that the Crew hasn't won two games in a row all season and now people are saying it's not improbable for them to win THREE in a row. lol wut
Porter couldn't do what Neville did because Porter doesn't coach - he just lays tactics out. Shitty tactics, at that.
We don't NEED to win three in a row. If we win tonight and lose in Charlotte, it comes down to Decision day. We go 2-1 and we finish with 48 points. That might be enough.
