This afternoon, the Philadelphia Union held on for a point at Atlanta to get officially out of Austin's reach. At this point, only two teams can catch them at the top of the MLS table: LAFC, who would take the West regular season title; and Montreal, who would pass the CCL berth down the aforementioned table. Thus, Philly will return to the continental stage one way or another

With their victory over Houston yesterday, LAFC have confirmed their return to the continental stage three years on from being the other LA team to have a historic run in a bubble

While Austin no longer has a shot at a regular-season CCL berth, 1) the fact that they're even in the conversation is astounding, and 2) they're currently first in line for a hand-me-down berth if Montreal, Philly or LAFC go on to win MLS Cup.

Of those 15 teams, who do you think has the best roster? I don't think it's controversial at all to say it's LAFC.

Go ahead and throw America and Monterrey in, too, and I'd say it's still a pretty easy case to make.

Of course. I'm simply talking about the rosters as they look on paper. Coaching, chemistry, etc. factor into which team is actually the best, but if you're looking at pure talent on the roster, I don't think any other squad is better than LAFC's.

The Concacaf League semifinals wrapped up yesterday, and only one Honduran side still has a shot at the trophy, so the berths have now all been assigned.

As for the last qualifier: the MLS playoffs commence this weekend...

NYCFC will return if they successfully defend their title. Any other outcome grants Austin a debut on the continental stage.

Aaaaaaaand the field is complete!

NYCFC saw their lead evaporate in record time in Philly, failing to carry on their title defense and watching their continental aspirations simultaneously vanish. Thus, with both LAFC and the Union approaching MLS Cup with a CCL ticket in their pockets, the hand-me-down "Conocaf" berth has officially been passed to Matthew McConaughey's boys.
