Paul Lawrence will be the new HC at ISU. Florida Southern announced his resignation today, so I would expect an official announcement from ISU any time. Lawrence Steps Down as Women's Soccer Coach - Florida Southern College (fscmocs.com)
Great hire! Comes from a very strong conference and had a very good run in 2022. Division 2 coaches are starting to take over!
Here's a Hot Seat that no one will have to worry about ever again. Saint Francis College (Brooklyn) has decided to discontinue their intercollegiate athletic program. That will leave the NEC with only 8 full-time members. From the school's website: Elimination of Athletics The St. Francis College Board of Trustees and Leadership are responding to these challenges by acting decisively with plans in place to benefit the College and the students we serve. Accordingly, the Board of Trustees recently approved a strategic realignment plan which includes the elimination of the College’s NCAA Division I athletics program, effective at the conclusion of the Spring 2023 semester.
If you were a fifth year senior there. You played in both their first game ever and the last game ever. Only added the program in 2019. Not saying a ton will follow, but this wont be the last (LaSalle anyone?) nor will Hartford be the last one of its kind. Probably a discussion for another thread though.
That sucks for all their players on the team. Very very late in the year for them to jump ship and hope to find another team for the fall or get a lot of money. Sucks for the coach too to be canned like that. Always sad in my opinion when schools miss out on athletics. It brings life to the schools and student body and energy to campus.
I agree but that school had a hard time finding life for the students in general. For a downtown city campus they had no main buildings to create a community like NYU, Columbia, etc.
Probably not, but wouldn’t be the biggest surprise. Their enrollment has dropped from over 4000 to just over 3000. They have over 100 million in debt. They are overspending their endowment. A dorm lies unused and dormant on campus. They just canceled multiple sports in the las few years. The A-10’s footprint is getting more ridiculous by the moment skyrocketing travel costs. Their AD just bolted to be COO of Miami (think that was it). I don’t think they would, but they are in a bad way financially so it wouldn’t be a surprise.

Indiana State almost sets a record for administration incompetence. Took them 112 days to make a hire. Syracuse still holds the admin incompetent record, took them 118 days to make a hire a few years ago. Anything over 50-60 days is pretty poor.
I know several of the players. I do feel for them. Paul is a class guy and was one of the most professional coaches we encountered during my D's recruiting. He took a "no" and he kept on swinging. I wish him well.

Didn’t think this would go anywhere. Have to imagine would be near impossible for her to get a college gig again. https://mynewsla.com/crime/2023/04/05/lmu-responds-to-fired-womens-soccer-coachs-suit/
It seems both Roberts and Bindon don’t and should not have a place in college soccer in the future. Roberts has been known to be a douche for years so I doubt the situation at SIU really surprises anyone.
With SIU, that must come as a surprise for him. He told coaching friends he would be fine, and hired lawyers apparently threatening a suit If they removed him without breaking his contract terms. Curious to see if a lawsuit will be coming soon. Assistant coach said the admins gave zero direction or insight for the past 5 months, they had no clue what way things would go but were frustrated with recruiting not knowing to offer players or not since no head coach at the helm for nearly half a year. Wonder how far it will set them back having stalled for that long. Didn't sound like assistants would be promoted, but this late in the game, you never know.
I would be very surprised if Prairie View doesn't hire Kathryn B. the Utep head coach that was just let go. Her husband coaches in Houston area already, it would be a move home to be near him and coach in same conference she did before. Who knows though. That search is taking its sweet time. Any other coaches retiring before the fall? I've heard a handful are on the cusp of stepping away by choice in the next 3-8 months.
a list of long-serving coaches was discussed here around posts 1033-40. All speculation about their plans. Sometimes coaches leave late in the year intentionally to set up their asst. I'm sure there are more recent examples but I recall Glenn Crooks leaving Rutgers in the summer so O'Neill was named 'interim" and then earned the job.
When my niece was looking at schools, Roberts actively recruited her to Ball State when he was there. I told my brother that something seemed off about him and I had my reservations about him. In retrospect, I’m really glad now that I gave my 2¢.
