Some other successful D1 head coaches were finalists for Coastal and visited this past week. Will see if they are offered, and if they accept. Some of these open head coaching jobs aren't enough money to get by on these days with inflation, huge housing costs. $60,000-$69,000 not what it used to be 3 years ago. Methinks some will need to increase their salaries to land better coaches.

Side note qu, Tony Amato not trying to get back in the game after Florida? Curious, haven't heard much on what he's doing now. Or is he paid out for a few years for them terminating contract early? Details would be appreciated.

He got paid out. He’ll probably lay low for another year then jump on a staff. Still too recent and hot of a story for him to jump back on board anywhere imo

Cincinatti was already filled from UAB coach, and NAU was already filled with Alan Berrios. So two more filled, and UAB needs to be added to open.

I actually had those updated, somehow along the way I must have accidentally deleted them when updating. It’s accurate now (or should be!).

    Massive get?? Risky move??
Rick has never had a winning season as a head coach at the college level.. UMBC is great opportunity for him to try and build a winning team. He is lucky

UMBC is awful in women's soccer and has hired very few coaches with head coach experience in like their last 4/5 coaching hires. Leslie Wray was the recent example and she got run off by a player revolt the admin supported. If a "winning season as a head coach at the college level" was what they were looking for, I would be curious if many applied. Their treatment of Wray and her assistant has turned off lots of local club folks. Just look at their roster for evidence. Good local players have stayed away.

Rick was just working for Dave Nolan, the best coach in the region, imho, at one of the best schools in the region (hopefully that's a consensus opinion). And so he's very well connected to their national recruiting pipelines as well as being a NJ guy with his experience at Seton Hall and his kid plays now on a pda team. He knows a whole lot of potential players.

Going from Georgetown as an AC to UMBC has a HC, with their terrible leadership and history is a risk for sure. I'm sure he knows that and I do hope it works out and am rooting for him and the players there but he will have to be very very patient I think. As will the new players he brings in right away.

Thats an interesting move by Denton? One A10 side to another A10 side? Maybe more funds or scholarships?

Alexa Quaranta and Mellissa Hummel were two top-level players that were known nationally at the club and high school level and ended up at UMBC, ultimately carrying them to the NCAA tournament in 2013, and coming close again in 2014 but they lost Quaranta to injury, as well as couple of other important players. It is very possible to be competitive in the AEC with a couple of top-level players. UMBC can win in the AEC. With that being said, it didn’t seem like the recruiting and depth was where it needed to be at Seton Hall when Rick was in charge, and towards the end things got really really bad. Guess we will see, but IMO the right person can get it done at UMBC.

completely agree and honestly, I don't know much of the Seton Hall story at all. It is definitely a very short paragraph in that announcement. The Quaranta's are part of the 'Baltimore Soccer Mafia' and running the local Pipeline club that does have some good players. The latest Quaranta and another All-Met player with UMBC ties actually went to local Loyola instead. I agree that the AE is a very winnable conference for about half the teams any given year now that Boston is gone. If Rick is good at cultivating at least some of the good local talent and can work his NJ ties and the portal, things could improve there quickly. What no one here knows is how much of the budget was used by Mann on those internationals and so how much might be available. Towson is up a bit and Loyola has been very average lately. UMD is after anyone that can play right now so that market is kinda buzzing. Will be interesting to see how it goes.

Davidson seems bitter, didn't wait one day to post it simultaneously. I get it leaving for a conference opponent, but heard there are big obstacles at Davidson so can't blame hime for leaving for a better supported school.

Wonder if that was in the pipeline for a while. Their last year captain (graduated transfer) is going to Kentucky to play for a year now.
