This may be true, but they’re not the type of player that costs so much we can’t continue to improve our defense.
BREAKING: Levski winger & Bulgaria U21 international Stanislav Ivanov is on the verge of joining #MLS team Chicago Fire! He's expected to sign a pre-contract now and join his new club as a free agent in the summer. https://blitz.bg/sport/levski/bomba...do-dni-s-bivsh-otbor-na-stoichkov_465388.html
It's weird seeing people on reddit pondering what we'll do to replace Brandt Bronico. Like, aren't there 30 or 40 Brandt Bronicos available every year in round 3 of the draft?
https://www.reddit.com/r/chicagofire/comments/k4445j/chicago_fire_fc_declines_midfielder_brandt/ and I didn't say anyone was worried, just that they were pondering. It's just weird that it warrants any discussion at all.
I mean he was the backup CM. When Gimenez went on international duty, we started Bronico. We're going to need someone decent enough to fill in considering Gimenez will probably get called up on every international break going forward.
Same...and same. For the record, it's ONLY that shyte logo what holds me back. The age, the knees of chocolate, the fact that on my best day I might have momentarily polluted the bottom of a USL2 roster mean NOTHING. [But seriously, Collier? What the everlasting fcuk?]
So, the Fire's new Bulgarian winger, Stanislav Ivanov. All we really have to go on is youtube. His video is pretty good, he has a bit of speed, can pass and score. The video also has at least three Chad Barrett worthy sky shots! Welcome to Chicago. This is an interesting video. Welcome to Chicago Fire 2020 (but the video was made two months ago) By the way, he was rumored to be heading to Galatasaray before the Fire popped into the story. Also, transfermarkt.ud has him valued at $1.1 million, but lists the transfer fee as only $183k. If true (and we can never be certain), seems like a good piece of work. I am cautiously optimistic about the offensive-minded moves the Fire are making. We still need at least two defenders (replacements for Bornstein and Calvo, but they are both fine for now), assuming Kappelhoff is back and healthy.
I like that he's apparently a goal scoring threat. We badly need one on the wings to help alleviate the dependency on Beric. On top of Galatasaray wanting him, he apparently had a move set to 2nd division German side Erzgebirge (sp?) Aue, but he refused it which pissed his club off because they needed the money. I have no clue how he'll do, but this is a guy they have wanted since they got here. Hopefully he ends up much better than Aliseda.
Overall I'm pretty unimpressed with our offseason. Expected to be traded: Kappelhof, Djordje. I'd be thrilled if they didn't get any good offers for Djordje and we'd be forced to keep him, but I will plan without both here: ---------------------------Beric(Offor) Ivanov(Aliseda)------Stojanovic(Herbers)---Frankowski(Herbers) -------Medran(Gutierrez)----Gimenez(Pineda?) Bornstein(Navarro)-Calvo(Teran)-Pineda(Sekulic)-Espinosa(Sekulic) --------------------------------Shuttleworth(Kronholm) There would be like 2 more potential MLS additions. This team still has some pretty huge holes though. First of all, we never filled up that leadership void. Instead all we did was add three young guys to the roster, emphasizing the need for leadership even more on the team. Attacking and defensive depth is fine, but the central midfield depth is seriously lacking. When Gimenez goes on his international duty, who is even good enough to step in? No one. And that doesn't account for any potential injuries to Medran. Also, adding a RB isn't going to fix our backline issues. At best we're a playoff team, at worst we're back in the same position as this season, which is not good. You have the money to spend big on a DP, go ahead and do it. You don't get extra credit for finding the best bargain DPs out there.
It would be nice if they would spend big when they finally have the ability to do so. However, I see that the talent floor is significantly higher that it was last season and more so than a year ago. Aside from Beric, Gimenez, and Medran (and Calvo in the coach's mind) everyone has genuine competition for their place in the squad. We can look forward to a season of continuity and growth from young players. I agree that we get into the playoffs, play on the road and maybe grind out one playoff win. We'll see how much Wicky can coach 'em up.
Unprotected list is out: Boris Sekulić, Johan Kappelhof, Kenneth Kronholm, Elliot Collier and Wyatt Omsberg. The other four players are: CJ Sapong, Brandt Bronico, Micheal Azira and Connor Sparrow. Surprised about Sekulic, but his salary will likely scare off any suitors. I doubt any will be selected. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...raft-official-list-players-eligible-selection
I think there's some buyers remorse on Sekulic. They bought Espinosa with the intention of starting him and sending Sekulic to the bench. Probably didn't plan on having such an expensive backup RB on the roster.
When we add Ronaldo** and Lewandowski*** things will pick up! **Ronaldo Conceicao ***Mateusz Lewandowski
The impact of a superstar 10 in MLS Cup did not go unnoticed. A clear star 10 is back on the wishlist. Unsure what roster moves would need to be made to accommodate such a player— TR (@TyrusRoseCF97) December 15, 2020 My own tweet
