PBP: 2021 Match Day #1: Columbus Crew SC v. Union, April 18, 2021 p/d/p

This should be a tough match. Feeling a draw...

 

Thinking this will be a loss. Crew are bringing back almost all of their players from last year plus some proven winners. They rested some guys in CCL game Thursday and we may be overestimating the Union based on Saprissa game. Hoping I'm wrong and they are high in confidence but away and Columbus have not been good words for the Union when they are in the same sentence.

 

Nice result, boys.

 

On the road against the defending MLS Cup champions to open the season...coming home with a point is a result I'm happy with.

Might be the two best teams in the East and they went toe to toe. Gone are the days of the rolling over at the end. Curtin still only using one sub but thinking of who was on the bench I can see why. Boys get to rest a few days now. About as good as it gets without a win.

 

Thought is was a terrible game to watch - too many missed passes and not enough offense that clicked. Was glad it finished with a draw.

We could bitch about how no one posts anymore. That should get the post count up.

 

I admittedly fell off from posting since I moved. Missed a lot of games over the past few years...first because they were awful. And then I struggled keeping up with the Covid schedule.

That being said I’m really making an effort this year. I’ve missed MLS. And BS.

 

MLS’s website shows us wearing the new jersey with yellow shorts. I’m a happy man if that’s true.
