I was thinking the same. Kyogo is like Maeda a stamina monster and can score every second. It was a dumb idea to sub him out.
Looked like Kyogo was tiring badly in the second half, much like the rest of the team. He gave the ball away at least three times in the 15 minutes or so before he was subbed. Celtic go all out at the start of the game but run out of gas in the latter stages. That's why they tend the let these CL games slip away and concede late goals. They probably would have given one up to Athletico if it weren't for the red card.
Agreed. We needed more subs to have a chance of getting all three points- the midfield was tiring as well as Kyogo/ Maeda. One negative of Rodgers last night was that he didn't use all the substitution slots.
Man what a game, so many highs and lows, absolutely devastated for Hatate. Kyogo though what a goal that was. Maeda never stops to amaze me, he is just a machine and he is improving other parts of his game all the time, he gave that left back a nightmare, so much so that he was subbed at half time Best European Celtic performance I've seen in a long time, they gave Athletico a real scare, Europa League could be a possibility if they continue like that.
It'll take a better utilization of available resources in the 2. half, and conscious adaptations to superior opposition at every opportunity. I know most players we have aren't Rodgers' choice, but they must have some use. The biggest positive is that we didn't fall apart even after conceding twice.
Well now that Celtic european campaign is over, even in a worst way than the last one, I hope Furuhashi will move to another club as soon as possible. Celtic and Scottish Premier League is not enough for him and he's not so young to waste time in a farmers league anymore.
Maeda red card was inevitable - he plays with such high intensity. But it's one of those that looks worse when you freeze-frame it. The fact that it wasn't called a red initially kind of proves that. Anyway, they were already losing and probably would've lost comfortably.
Furuhashi scored, but in the second half got smashed by the bald head of an Aberdeen defender. He left the play on his own two feet after lying K.O.-ed for minutes. Hopefully not a concussion, because nobody wants to be out for JNT games.
He is 100% sure. Celtic coach said he is only out for 7 days. He is fit but need to recovery a little from his head crash.
Once again they show they are to weak for this tournament. Few more positive glimpses than last years spectacle but.
Iwata almost scored in the end. Finally, Celtic played like an attacking team should play. All because of a player whose specialty is stealing the ball and running. I don't think he'll be on the bench next game.
As much as I'd love to see Kyogo in the Premier League, Ange has a much bigger budget with Spurs so I don't see him poaching any of the Celtic Japanese.
