The ratings are extremely generous. Other than Talavera and Tecatito I think every single player should be docked a point at least. Alvares was solid, but made a complete blunder that should have been put away. Chaka, aside from the goal, and a play here and there was horrible. He even had an equally horrible yellow. Erik Gutierrez is a black hole when it comes to attack. He is a solid piece in the middle, but when he pushes up he appears to be completely clueless. Orbelin shows flashes, but he is way too flashy for his own good. It's as if he thinks his talent level is at Tecatito's level, but ends up squandering good opportunities by doing too much. Salcedo was shaky at best. Moreno showed nothing of note. HH was solid for about 70 minutes then unraveled. He made key passes and helped attack, but once he got frustrated he was a detriment to the team. Funes Mori had his worst game in the NT to date, although he's still light years a better option compared to Pulido. JDS was invisible. Other than constantly losing possession in the middle, I forgot he was even out there. Pulido had one good shot in the whole time he was there, other than that he was just in the way. He doesn't help link up like Funes Mori, which stagnates an already stagnant attack.
Mexico has really been hit by Chucky's injury and the Olympics. Tata already says that Mexico doesn't have a player like Lozano instead of Antuna. He has to have Pineda playing there, when he doesn't in his club and Efrain Alvarez as a sub. If they had the U23 you could have Lainez, Alexis Vega and Antuna there and maybe Roberto Alvarado, although he didn't do that great job in Guadalajara. The bench thing is the key thing and having rotation for players which the Olympic takes away. This Gold Cup looks a lot like 2015 but the good thing there was that it was a year away from Qualifiers and now you have months. The Tata thing is the most worrying in 2021. He just hasn't had a good year and he keeps making bad decisions. On one hand you have him go with his A team but on the other hand you use the tournament as a consolation price for the guys that didn't make the olympics. Then you have things like Chaka does well gets injured and you have him remain in the game because you're scared of using Kevin Alvarez especially after his lackluster debut against Nigeria C. He underrated the Gold Cup somewhat and it's tough to blame him when people in Mexico and here do that all the time and are doing it right now.
We still have a better squad than any of T&T, GT or ESA brought here. ESA needs USL players ffs. We shouldn't have a hard time winning in CONCACAF, but at last we always struggle.
The conformity with struggling to beat a team with USL players is alarming (yes, despite the notable omissions, any one of yesterday’s XI would’ve been ES’ star player - even Chaka). And then people complain about our inability to get to the quinto partido.
You talk as if the closest we ever got to the quinto partido in recent times, we got to the tournament thru a playoff after finishing 4th. And then a year after that game against the Netherlands, we didn't just struggled but failed to beat Guatemala and Trinidad and Tobago in this very tournament and with no Olympics being played.
Que no mamen. ES was not the better team on Sunday. They played good for the last 20-25 min after Edson's blunder. Mexico's finishing was awful...Funes Mori had a few chances he should have put away. Orbelin had another two...minimo. Tata's subs were awful...he makes the same subs and the same thing happens...they play awful yet he doesn't learn. But all of this Tata was outcoached, ES was the better team are really uniformed and bad takes.
disagree. Tata was outcoached and has been getting figured out for the whole year. this is starting to feel like Chepo 2011-2012
You're entitled to your own wrong opinion. I do agree he's been real bad though but not outcoached...but all this talk about ES being better is flat out wrong.
I don't think he's being getting outcoached like Chepo. It hasn't been that bad. It was a bad strategy to think they were going to get tired out like Guatemala, but they were creating chances and Mexico should have killed the game. People forget that Mexico wasn't even doing that with Chepo. The Costa Rica and Jamaica scoreless ties in Azteca were games where the ties were deserved results and maybe even Mexico was lucky to get the tie. Also Martino has been somewhat arrogant but not to the Chepo level of "Brazil never worries about their rivals and always plays the same, why shouldn't we do that?".
So people don't freak out that much ¿Realmente se debe "ganar, golear y gustar" en CONCACAF?
