That cross looked quite slow and too much curved (was it Dorsey? Didn't saw well, only saw she received from Kawasumi), but Lloyd was absolutely great at converting it in a goal with her powerful header: what a jump, what a perfect straight direction. I have to admit the discussion about Lloyd, her age and USWNT was quite engaging, but Lloyd today showed how she is still able to turn a game on ts head!
Wow, what an incredible goal-line clearance by Freeman!!! Portland close to score, but Gotham clinging to the 1-1.
Hmmmm Onumonu and Veins are both very good, but not sure I like seeing Purce and Monaghan subbed out when they've been most of Gotham's spark so far.
Smith had a perfect chance there and didn't shoot well, but impressively managed to perfectly hit one of the balls sitting on the sideline!
Late but definitely correct flag there on Charley ...and then she gets a Yellow? I missed the reasoning on that
Yes, I agree with you: they had seemed some of the most brilliant Gotham players in this 2nd Half. Odd changes. Meanwhile Portland keep knocking on the door: a Sinclair's header wide from a Horan's assist and then Sophia Smith wastes while 1-on-1 with Haracic (and is subsequently replaced by Morgan Weaver). And now a Charlie's goal disallowed for off-side!
I was wondering if I was the only one noticing that: of course not! Maybe she was secretely aiming at that number, and not at the goal!
Did I hear right that there won't be extra-time in this final, but just direct penalty shootout? Edit: yes, it looks like I heard right: @Klingo3034 posted that at almost the same moment I posted mine question.
What. A. Save. By Haracic! Sinclair is denied. You seldom see this kind of saves in the women's game, I'd dare to say. Karma could punish Portland for missing so many goals and give it to Gotham at PSO instead (of course it wasn't just the Thorns missing but also some amazing pieces of defending from Gotham).
Hot damn, Onumonu with a golden opportunity for the header and go-ahead goal in stoppage! That would've been the game-winner had it gone in, time called second after. PKs now
1-1 FT. Now I want Kawasumi to take one of the PKs. She said multiple times that she wanted to take one in the 2011 WWC final, but she was Japan's last PK-taker so she didn't need to take hers!
I know postgame & trophy celebration was supposed to move off of CBS, but with the game not yet decided I reeeaaallllly hope they show the PKs instead of beginning their f*****g golf coverage....
