    That is extremely shady. Wow.

As for incarnate word if true- just hire a female, any female.

Hey man, this isn’t professional sports. Winning or losing at any cost isn’t the point. Nobody is winning a national title at Incarnate. There are other places and where players that have both the aspirations of doing that AND are talented enough can go and purse that.

I’m sorry that this means you and some friends get passed over for jobs that you feel you are entitled to.

Ultimately the school’s ambitions matter more than any one coach’s ability. There is a reason why the worst coach I have ever seen at the collegiate level has several consecutive National tournament appearances with an elite 8 and a couple sweet 16s, and the best I know is at a D2. Timing, luck and circumstance are more important than ability and if that’s the case I don’t see why we shouldn’t give more opportunities to women.

If she’s that bad then she will lose a lot of games and probably at some point it will cost her the job. If she’s really good then she might sneak a run to national tournament via the conference. Like most coaches, male or female, she’s probably somewhere in between, which is perfectly fine for UIW.

they also announced a new assistant today . Big day for them. I assume they’ll just promote her. Currently still without a conference, as well. Mens soccer job, AD position also vacant, but looks like the Men will be affiliate members of the MAC at least. What a mess.

Mario Felix was named head coach at Chicago State on March 1, and then on June 1 he is no longer head coach. Has to be one of the most bizarre coaching terms ever.

Of the 7 D1 positions not filled nationwide, 3 of the 7 are SWAC teams? What gives.

I do not know any of the machinations going on with OU as many of the posters here do. But I have been interested in understanding the transfer in and then right out of OU of Alexis Strickland. Alexis is a local North Carolina player who was on the UNC team for two years (2019 and medically redshirted in 2020) and showed well with significant playing time s a frosh, with a few key goals and the hearty support of Anson and us fans, and it was a disappointment when she transferred out to OU in June the summer of 2021.

Her public announcement of her transfer in the summer of 2021 was upbeat and focused on improving her skills and looking forward to being a part of the Sooner family. She started 14 of the first 17 games and averaging in the 60 minute range per game as a forward. But it all seemed to fall apart near the end of the s 20-game season where she came off the bench with decreasing minutes in the last three games. NC State announced her joining the to Wolfpack women's soccer team in December 2021. The 6-month fling to Oklahoma was over, going from a positive and hopeful start to transferring to NC State without public comment. What was the lesson learned?...was it personal or was it a bad cultural fit? I certainly do not know.

Coming out swinging (and of course Collegewhispers takes the bait, when one of the three schools in question literally hired male a few months ago, and another was vacated by a male) without all the facts and making assumptions is a dangerous thing. And in this case, to choose 3 HBCUs and lump them altogether in your false assumption opens you up to a certain level of criticism.

Interesting - sounds like support for all of the stories being shared so far. Maybe things really are as bad as being reported on this forum with the coach that she got the hell out of dodge after one short season.

there is definitely something odd about the situation and consistent with what people have been saying that a lot of the athletes are not happy there.

    It's now official.
    • Kendyl Baird was the assistant men's coach at Warren Wilson College (DIII - North Carolina) after being a graduate assistant at Montana State-Billings on the women's side the last couple seasons. She is now the HC (6/1).
    • Natasha Ademakinwa - now the Director of Soccer at Shawnee State University (NAIA - Ohio) after being the women's HC for the last four seasons. She moves into the role after the men's HC retired after 23 years coaching.
    • University of Chicago hired Julianne Sitch as their men's soccer coach.
    • North Central University (DIII - Minnesota) made Colette Montgomery their men's coach after already being the women's coach.
There's now five female coaches of men's programs in college soccer (four made for the 2022-23 season, plus NYU).

That's a lateral move I guess but she's an alum and maybe prefers the Boston area. She can grow old and be happy working with great kids at an Ivy like Penn or in the Patriot at Boston, like Feldman did. I don't know how the salary and resources compare but I'm sure BU loses kids to Ivies like Penn all the time. But then Boston gets kids that aren't quite Ivy worthy??
    Another open job though...

54 jobs that have filled and then still 7 more openings. 40 in a year is on the high end. Insane amount of turnover this off-season, have to assume some moves were held off during the Covid lockdown to this year. Would predict there won’t be as much turnover next year.

Interestingly, most of the jobs are in the midwest and southwest. Not many in the northeast, which is unusual given the high number of schools there. Other years are different.

I think this is a good hire for Boston- someone who will be there a while and offer stability with head coaching experience.what now for Penn??

It’s Penn so they will obviously attract interest. That said it won’t seem great in the short term when candidates are told that they won’t be able to use their game field this fall. They are building an indoor track facility next to their field and because of the construction Penn closed the game field. A facility, btw, that won’t be able to use. It is a track only facility. The only thing it provides soccer is bathrooms and concession stands for fans. Not the best time for a coaching change.

I also agree that’s a good hire for Boston University. I was skeptical with Casey Brown getting the Penn job with an overall losing record at Holy Cross and best conference season was 3–1-5 there. She did relatively all right in the one Penn season she had (Ivy’s did not play in covid year). It’s good to see a BU alum and former assistant get the job and it’s also a nice move that in a way honors Nancy Feldman who is so highly respected and thought of here in New England. BU is pretty well funded and supported, much more so than Holy Cross was. Way easier to win the Patriot League with BU than it would have been for Penn to win the Ivy with Harvard, Brown, and Princeton. Real competition will come from Navy and pending the year maybe also Bucknell and Loyola; Colgate should be there as well based on support and history too but now they can’t even make postseason since their new staff arrived.

What I don’t understand is why they didn’t offer it to Casey Brown in the first place. Not a good look to give it to two associate head coaches whom both turned it down. Bad decisions by both of them in my opinion. At least they figured it out and made a good hire at the conclusion of this, just seemed like it could have been an easier overall process from the beginning.

As for Penn I’m not so sure how easy it will be to find a suitable head coach for them. Lots of changes happened already this year and whoever takes that gig won’t be competing for a conference title for at least 3-4 years and that’s if they make all the right moves. 3 Ivy League teams made the NCAAs last year so it’s become a pretty competitive conference. Penn admins have to do some work quick with season beginning in two months. Those seniors will be on their 3rd head coach and missed a covid season, hard experience for those kids.
