https://gocamels.com/news/2022/1/24/womens-soccer-jeff-gross-named-head-womens-soccer-coach.aspx Jeff is a hard worker and has paid his dues to get this opportunity. I think he'll do great. They have a good team and my understanding was the former coach was not going to take anyone to Villanova but that was before this announcement. We'll see I guess. He would have a pretty good team that can win that Big South conference.

I think I mentioned previously he would end up at Texas State to HSU and was leaving ULL..looks like I am on the right track.
Only because you said please. But if you are truly a women's soccer fan, you have to ask yourself would USC or UCLA hire a second assistant for their basketball, baseball, or football programs. We all know the answer to that. And people like you want us not to talk about it. We as fans are getting laughed off the stage. People have a right to at a minimum question it. At least until they make a final four, because these are final four programs, regardless of coaching.
Exactly. These hires would get an AD fired if they were made for football, basketball, baseball. Absolutely OK to question them.
I agree with your last comment, but that’s also your answer. The AD knows the team will win regardless of who is at the wheel, so all he needs to do is make a hire that looks good on paper to the average person (Not the soccer community) so he could justify the hire if necessary and if he can help Title IX along in the process, so be it.
Disagree on that regarding the UCLA hire. Many top power 5 schools hire assistants to be first time head coaches in football. Oregon and Notre Dame just did it. For petes sake, MA was an assistant at the D1 level for SEVEN YEARS at arguably the top program in the country during that span. How many more years does she need to satisfy people. She also has her A license.
How many times must this be said: it doesn't matter what happens with football, basketball, or baseball. Those sports are operated completely different and expectations are completely different. We all know that. Coaches know that. Admin knows that. It's not all treated the same, nor will it ever be (probably). If soccer ever gets to the point to bring in the money like other sports do -- whether that is through media money, sponsorships, OR philanthropic donors -- then maybe these sports can be all compared in operations/expectations.
When was the last time Oregon or Notre Dame football won a national championship? I'm sure we can all remember the last time UCLA and USC women's soccer won.
You are splitting hairs about the debate. I can also ask, 'when was the last time a women's soccer coach was asked to have his/her program support the majority of the athletics department's budget?' MA will be more than fine at UCLA. The reports on her have been very positive so far, and it is not difficult to win there. I hope the same for JA at USC.
https://mountathletics.com/news/202...-sherwood-to-guide-womens-soccer-program.aspx I wonder if this is what the players at Mt. St. Mary's really wanted after complaining about the previous coach? Her time at St. Peters was not exactly stellar.
Give her one thing, she has now been willing to take on 2 of the worst jobs in women's college soccer.

I agree. She is close with JA. Do you think SC would hire her even with her reputation of what happened at LMU? And their record was terrible as well, not to mention she was fired halfway through season.
