If anyone wants to see my 2008 feature film, POPE DREAMS, I have released it for free on Vimeo for a limited time because of the pandemic. I figure people stuck at home starving for entertainment will give it better reviews... password: popedreamsfullmoviemarch Hope you enjoy it!
Forgive me, I'm bored. I think the most MLS thing MLS could do with this season is to have one giant tournament and crown a champion. Think the World Cup. 26 teams divided into 6 groups, top two teams go through plus 4 wild cards - this is MLS, almost everyone makes the 2nd round! My math could be off.... The group stage would be phenomenal TV, First Beckham could be on tv picking ping pong balls to decide who plays with who in what group. There would undoubtedly be claims of fixing when we draw the 3 worst teams in the league. LAFC could tell us all about how great their fans are, even in an empty stadium. Make it totally random. Base it all together at the spring training fields (near phoenix I think). It would be great tv and years from now we would talk about MLS shootouts and the year the entire season was a tournament. Probably more exciting then the regular season and it would be done in 4 weeks. Back to dreaming....
I would happily watch this. @skydog - I keep going with virtual game night with friends, virtual movie night and running. Plus some screen time has been introduced. Podcast is a married lady struggling with support. Same issues but I get no break at 4pm!
Sound interesting but then again I would watch training sessions at this point. I think nothing closed-to-the-public is going to fly with soccer as there will be a bunching of different sports competing when the go-ahead comes down from the different goverment entitities involved. I don't know that MLS has the wherewithal financially to do closed-stadium anything. Is the television contract enough to run the thing even for a while? I'll be happy as a lark if they announce any sort truncated season or a tournament style version of same but I think MLS is done for this year. What I wonder then is: if that happens is Chicharito, Pavon, Dos santos and such going to want to sit around twiddling heir thumbs while other more affluent and bigger leagues elsewhere will open to play be it with or without spectators? Are our player going to book and will they come back? Imagine Pavon tearing up a euro league. He's not gonna want to come back.
Watching MLS Cup 2011 on lagalaxy.com right now. Our starting lineup: ------------------Saunders Franklin---AJDLG--Gonzalez---Dunivant ----------Beckham-------Juninho Donovan-------------------------------Magee -------------Keane--------Cristman Man, that was a good lineup....That backline and midfield (plus the greatest DP of all time up top)
Donovan just scored in the MSL Cup 2011 re-broadcast. Man, that was so sweet..... I lost my friggin' mind in that moment....
"Some" screen-time? My toddler has her own Netflix profile at this point! We have to keep telling her to stop spoiling shows we're trying to watch.
You mean this old thing? Really, how fricken high was the soccer IQ of those two? Robbie Keane. @landondonovan.History. pic.twitter.com/BrS1hQsSK5— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) April 20, 2020
Ah, soccer. I remember this. I miss the Keanovan era. Hope you guys are all doing well. I'm not feeling inspired soccer-wise. I thought I'd blog but no, that didn't happen. I have been lazily using a game-maker to work on a very generic RPG in my spare time. That's how cool I am. It will probably never be finished. Which is probably a good thing. I'm fortunate that I can work from home with little disruption, which under different circumstances would be awesome. My face-to-face interactions have been exceedingly limited. Also finished Ozark and the 9 seasons of The Walking Dead on Netflix.
Does the RPG involve a fellowship of 11 warriors navigating through Garberlandia to obtain the MLS Cup of life? Along the way, they must travel through the hellpits of Chivas, battle through the Scums of Jose, and wade across the desolate Fake Salt Lake...
When I looked at that lineup, I began singing, “one of these things doesn’t belong here. One of these things isn’t the same...”
It isn't a coincidence that the goal was scored after he was subbed out and Donovan was moved closer to Keane....
This is why I think that the 2012 team was superior to the 2011 team. Landon at forward was simply better than either Barrett or Cristman.
