So assuming no one catches the corona virus, it looks like our starting XI is set. Thoughts? -----------------Beric Aliseda------------------Frankowski --------Medran------Mihailovic -----------------Gimenez Bornstein-Calvo-Kap-Sekulic ---------------Kronholm It appears to be a playoff team to me, but we should be aiming higher. For that to happen, I believe one of our front 3 needs to reach superstar level. Can Frankowski take the next step? Will Aliseda outplay his price tag? Will Beric be a steal? We'll see, but I fear maybe Aliseda or Beric's DP spot would have been better used for someone that just can't be stopped if they can't assume that role.
Love the youth movement. I think this team will be good to great next year or the year after if they can hold on to a decent number of players.
Our depth: --------------Sapong/Collier Sapong/Herbers--------------Sapong/Herbers ----------Bronico?-------Azira ------------------Gutjahr Navarro----Omsberg--?-----Bronico --------------Sparrow Depth still needs to be built. The team needs three more guys: a winger, a CM, and a CB. All should be of the rotational level and not just a warm body. International slots: - Sekulic - Gimenez - Medran - Frankowski - Aliseda - Beric - Navarro - Collier Collier will be getting his green card in the next 6 weeks normally so I can see him being loaned for the time being. That allows us to use one more international spot on the bench.
Do you think Bornstein starts over Navarro? I feel like Heitz and Wicky are really pushing the team younger.
I'm not too sure but I thought Bornstein did a fine job last season and until I/we see more of Navarro, I'll pencil Bornstein in as the starter. Navarro has been on U23 duty so he hasn't been able to train with the guys yet.
Sekulic will be solid, but not spectacular. Aliseda is a huge unknown that likely won't come close to Katai production. Djorde needs to really take a big step up. Medran has to turn out not to be a flake. Lots of ifs.
Rumors on twitter of a Serb AM , I'm guessing if true would be TAM. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luka_Stojanović
Luka Stojanović w kręgu zainteresowań Chicago Fire. Čukarički dostał już ofertę za środkowego pomocnika. Byłaby wielka szkoda, bo Luka to jeden z najlepszych piłkarzy obecnego sezonu Superligi. Jest absolutnie liderem Čukaričkiego jeżeli chodzi o umiejętności. pic.twitter.com/T60L7edrcu #SerbskaPiłka Luka Stojanović w kręgu zainteresowań Chicago Fire. Failed transfer? (Failure in general?) Look no farther than: See, Yallop, Frank-2015 re: Didier Drogba “I just move on,” Yallop told reporters on his weekly conference call. “Yeah, it was disappointing, I’d love to have ‘Double D’ playing for us, but it wasn’t to be and we move on. We picked up a great player in Gilberto, so in the process we’ve come out of it well. I don’t like to talk about what might be; it’s about what’s going to happen. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2015...rogba-chicago-fire-say-gilberto-signing-great By the way, I was commenting more generally, that the Fire have officially been extremely quiet regarding moves, potential moves, and moves that "might have been." This has not always been the case. In the past, even last year, we would hear from the Fire FO about moves "in the works," whether or not they were successful. “We’re in, I would say, advanced, deep negotiations with two foreign centerbacks,” Rodriguez said during the Tuesday event. “Both require transfers, so there’s the added complexity of trying to reach agreement with the club and the player. Both are good, but both are far from finished and we have contingencies against those two as well.” https://www.prosoccerusa.com/mls/ch...deep-negotiations-with-2-foreign-centerbacks/ Summer, 2018: ...Rodriguez revealed the team may add two more pieces from Europe to bolster the attack very soon. "We currently have two standing offers made for two different players in Europe, one of whom is what we would classify and characterize as a number ten," said Rodriguez. "One way or the other, we expect resolution on those offers this week." https://www.chicagotribune.com/90mi...r-transfers-sector-latino-20180725-story.html
Quoting Yallop on the silver lining in missing Drogba, " We picked up a great player in Gilberto..." I meant to copy that but mis-moused onto the "Search Google for" choice. There were no results.
Mark Cuban: Mavs Were Close to Adding '2 Really Big Pieces' at Trade Deadline https://bleacherreport.com/articles...-adding-2-really-big-pieces-at-trade-deadline
I mean of the 4 names I mentioned, 3 are being signed and the 4th had a direct statement from the club saying he was coming back, so the evidence is definitely supported
It appears you are correct. That said, we diehards are a very salty crew and there are no non-insider sources.
No one stuffs a striker like Gaston. No one creates a buzz like Gaston. NO ONE fills the seats like Gaston.
Why are you so concerned with seats be filled? I have seen this notion so much and I have no idea why fans are so obsessed with this? Do you need the validation of a full stadium? I would rather see the team win consistently which will draw fans a lot better then a “name” signing.
I’m aware of that, but you mentioned filling seats and I just don’t understand this fan bases obsession with that. Let’s worry about putting a winning team on the field before anything else.
You can have both. It's not an obsession when your team doesn't draw. It's not fun when the stadium is empty.
So you rely on others to make it fun for you? Losing isn’t fun, I’ll take 20k and winning over a sold out stadium and losing.
