But that's the lug-jury we now have, where, whatever flaws Teal may have, he can come in off the bench at the 75th minute and run, run, run at some ragged defender who has been going at it all game. If we're up and need to kill off a game, he's enough of a threat to keep them from being able to fully push forward for the equalizer. If we're down, he has been known to create chances and make things happen, and can get the ball to Bou for the winner. We don't need him to carry the load as a starter and be expected to score 10+ goals any more.
I agree with your broader point, but I personally can't stand Teal as a late sub when protecting a lead. He has qualities that are relevant in MLS and he adds value to this squad, but one thing he cannot help with is holding possession. Anyway, thanks for the different game reports from those who watched. On we go.

I have a feeling this will be a reoccurring theme this year as it has in the past. time to start looking for a new CB.
Yeah, I'm worried that re-signing Mancienne (even to the improved contract) is going to be the first bad move of Bruce's tenure here.
Let's tap the brakes a bit here - we don't even know what kind of 'knock' it was, whether he could have continued if it were a 'real' game, etc.
He was back in training yesterday, so it doesn't sound like anything serious. That said, I'm already worried about how productive he'll be given his salary.
I say give Mancienne the first half of the year to show that last year was a fluke. If he doesn't show us better by 8-10 games into the season, cut him loose (before contracts are guaranteed) and let him sign over the summer with some Euro team. But for now, give him a chance. We actually are not so, so, so desperate that the season will go down the tubes if we don't have every single player at 100%.
Revs down 2-1 at the half vs. MTL. 2 for Amarillo. 1 for Buksa. him and Bou seem to be finding an understanding.
I was at the game today. Thoughts: The team generally played without passion. That said, there were some particularly bad performers Farrell was terrible. Full stop. He missed 3 headers in the 1st half, 1 of which lead to a goal and a 2nd that would have if Turner wasn't good. If that wasn't bad enough he got burned 10 minutes later and pulled the guy down in the box to concede a penalty. 2 GA from Farrell. Bad Mancienne complete more passes to Minnesota than to Revolution players. Caldwell: absolutely invisible. No playmaking or ball winning. Zahibo: got caught in possession on 2 separate occasions Penilla: honestly looked like he didn't care No one was especially good. Maybe Bunbury, who assisted on Buksa's goal and had 2 good shots on goal. Bye completed 3ish crosses, 1 of which was also an Assist on the Buksa goal. Bou mostly looked out of sync, his goal was an absolute gift from Minnesota (the official started to raise his flag for offside until he realised it was a Look who played him the ball). The MVP of the game was Gil, who by not playing reminded all of us how bad this team is without him
I trust Arena... however ...I think we are still deficient in several areas and I am seeing other teams signing good players but not the Revs. I really hope he's not satisfied??? Players I dont like - . Zahibo - ran around, bad passes..too many bad tackles. We cannot play both him and Caldwell and expect any offense. Ill take Caldwell Mancienne - never liked him, still dont... cut him Areas to Improve - I do not like 2 DMs there is no creativity and we are not getting the ball in for shots. I want to see/find a creative midfielder that will create offense... We have some good young players but I doubt Arena will use them. He has always like older, more experienced players (his biggest flaw). We need to improve AM if we want to win games. I know Arena is trying to figure it out and I hope he does.... soon... Let some of the younger ones... the ones that won, play with your "first" team and see how they look. Do not let them rot on the bench
- Bunbury had a very nice assist on Buksa's goal - Buksa and Bou had very clinical finishes - both grass burners - Fagundez had once night play where he cut in from the right wing, got himself and good angle and got off a hard blast (though he should be learning something from Buksa and Bou's finishing technique!) - Jones looked very good from the part I saw - Bou seemed to turn up the intensity over the last 20+ minutes and got a bunch of chances - Bou and Buksa *really* seem to need Gil out there - Rowe worked hard and ran all over, but seemed to have more influence defensively than on the attack - thought Luis Caicedo's energy was missed I think Arena must feel like they are behind where they should be - I would have expected more players to see time in this one. We still seem to be missing a bunch of key players: Buttner, Gil, Delemea, Caicedo.
Minnesota United and Revolution stars all come to play in 2-2 draw February 16, 2020 9:13PM EST MLSsoccer staff
This is the real issue, isn't it? Gil is far and away the most important player on the team, and on paper the other three are upgrades to the starting 11. We're not so deep that we can have any real chance to play to our potential if we're missing four starters, especially when one of them is our best player. I would also like to see an upgrade to the center midfield, as well as an opportunity for some of the younger players on the roster to be given a chance to show what they could bring to the table. Right now, though, I don't see any reason not to be reasonably optimistic about the team's ability to be a top four team in the east. Should they be able to get their best 11 on the field consistently and perform up to their potential, that is what they should be. And I have more faith in this coaching staff and front office to make the in-game/game-to-game adjustments and during-the-season moves to upgrade the roster than I have in a very long time. NOTE: I reserve the right to revert back to the traditional cynicism and hopelessness that has defined my life as a founding STH whenever I choose.
