Bob was either somewhere here in Colorado or in Connecticut with the rest of the studio crew, Phil was in London. And yeah, he struggled a bit, but making French scenery up as you go along is a Tour de France tradition. Phil told a story at Paul's funeral (or at least sometime around his death) about the first Tour they called together and in order to fill time Paul was talk about the various chateaus and such on the broadcast, something nobody else had ever done. Except he was making it all up. But nobody watching knew and it got good feedback. After a couple of years of doing that (with more and more research on his own each year) the Tour itself realized how interested the fans were and started preparing road books to give to the announcers with actual factual background about what was going to be seen on each stage. Which is why, today, we get both a race and a tourism guide to France at the same time.
I tested negative to Covid yesterday and positive today. No symptoms what so ever. Covid had the courage to challenge me. Bad idea— Zlatan Ibrahimović (@Ibra_official) September 24, 2020 Never break character
https://talksport.com/football/efl/764928/charlton-takeover-thomas-sandgaard-done-premier-league/ A little bit of Colorado soccer news...... Thomas Sangaard, a Danish-American, who owns, operates, and started his medical device company, Zynex Medical, in Boulder (now Englewood) has taken over the ownership at Charlton Athletic. Sangaard moved to Colorado in ‘96 and is Colorado through and through. Anyways... bid for Charlton’s ownership has been heated and controversial to say the least. Sangaard, from what I understand, is the welcomed choice at Charlton as they look to rebound from being relegated to League One.
crazy goal from a USL (playoff?) game: This is, by my reckoning, going to be the weirdest goal of the season. And it might keep @hfdathletic in with a chance at first place in Group F. #PHIvHFD pic.twitter.com/zEn3Z16Ge8— Nicholas Murray (@NJEMurray) October 1, 2020
Ben Olsen and D.C. United have agreed to part ways, people close to the situation said. Olsen will remain with the organization. Details to come ... #dcu #mls— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) October 8, 2020 a little late but I was wondering when his 9 lives were finally going to be up.
BREAKING: #MLS is finalizing a new reserves league which could be announced by the end of the week, sources tell @TheAthletic. Details, plus why MLS is taking a second attempt at reserves — and how this all could impact the #USL. https://t.co/2IgEmRuqPw— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) October 13, 2020 I kind of liked using USL but seems MLS thinks otherwise not to mention this puts more "cost" on MLS teams..
Bouncing back from an own goal to make two crucial saves and see your team score a late winner on the road. What did it mean for @ClubBrugge and #USMNT goalkeeper Ethan Horvath? Brian Sciaretta @BrianSciaretta 20h Former #USMNT World Cup mid Jose Torres signs for the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC of the USL. Strong resume but hasn’t played much in recent years. 261 Liga MX appearances. He been part of 4 Liga MX titles, 3 CCL titles, 1 Sudamericana title, played in Libertadores & Club WC.
Gary Smith and Nashville went down 2-0 in OT. Boring game; I would have liked to see Nashville counter a little more. However, they were still one goal away, hitting the bottom of the crossbar in the first half. I’m still convinced the Rapids need to get better defensively first. We’ll never sign an offensive superstar. Build from the back and move forward.
Man I hate Seattle. Have to take my hat off to them—amazing comeback tonight. But boy I hate them. It’s like rooting against the Yankees. And we’re the Cleveland Browns.
Good for Columbus. Sure helps to have a finisher ($7 million well spent). Physically imposing team too. Won a lot of 50-50 balls, a Rapids nemesis.
It also shows why the Mexican clubs are so tough. Zelarayan was good for Tigres, but didn't have to carry them. I was really happy for Columbus too, after all that happened there.

With opening of their downtown stadium as well as the shorter season for the Vibes, this might be a huge opportunity for them.
The final should be interesting. I haven't been following much this year, but if everyone's healthy and LAFC is going to play like 2019 LAFC, that's the sort of MLS team that could win it. Impressive to knock out 3 Mexican clubs even with 2 single-leg rounds.
They basically played against the refs last night too. No VAR in the CONCACAF games yet. An LAFC player got tackled by a wrap around leg from behind, in the box. No call or anything by the ref. You could clearly see the Club America guy get the LAFC player first on replay, so it should’ve been a Pk but no call. Then in the aftermath the Club America keeper comes over and starts saying stuff in the LAFC players face while he’s down on the ground. So naturally he starts to get up. The GK pretends to get headbut in the face and starts rolling around in fake agony. Then one of the Club America players comes over and completely shoves the LAFC player to the ground. The ref then gives a red card to the LAFC player. Because they don’t use VAR I’m CONCACAF, LAFC had to play from behind the entire second half - in which they scored all three of their goals to come from behind and win. Now CONCACAF is not allowing an appeal of the red card before the final. Absolutely crazy stuff. Crazy.
