Here is it. The 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs bracket. Looks like the Union will play either Miami if they win or the winner of the NE Revs vs Montreal Impact game. Then a date with the winner of the Orlando-NYCFC game. Can the Union win 4 in a row at home?
The Union are the clear favorites to win. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/mls/
That's flawed. They'll likely be missing Montiero, Martinez, M'Baizo, Blake, Burke, and possibly Glesnes for the first playoff game due to quarantine after international duty.
https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...-november-2020-here-are-mls-players-traveling Martinez was the only one called up, but I saw it being reported last week he didn’t make the cut. So I guess we’ll see.
I thought Montiero had been called up for Cape Verde's Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Rwanda?
"If everything goes smoothly, I'll think he'll be ready." - Jim Curtin on Andre Blake. Blake was training Saturday helping Freese and kicking balls. Curtin said they are hopeful to have Blake train in the week building up to the playoff game. Monteiro & Mbaizo on int'l duty— Joe Tansey (@JTansey90) November 9, 2020
With COVID-19 cases on the rise, I wonder if fans in the stadium for the playoffs will even happen. Philly is locking it down again. This is the classic Philadelphia Union narrative 2020 needed. They get home field advantage throughout the playoffs then this crap happens just as the playoffs are about to begin. "That's so Union."
https://www.espn.com/soccer/major-l...y-to-sidestep-quarantine-sources?platform=amp Smart move by MLS so their marquee teams won't be without their international stars for the playoffs, but the last sentence concerns me: "It is still unclear if every player will be able to be accommodated, but the source stressed that the league was working to bring back "as many players as possible." You just know Garber will bend over backwards so the likes of LAFC, Seattle, and Miami don't have to play without their stars, but how far is he willing to go make sure Monteiro and El Brujo also get charter flights?
Wasn't sure where to put this: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/55239224 MLS lost $1 billion in 2020 due to the pandemic.
They lost $1 billion in revenue which is still horrible but not as horrible as actually losing a billion. I guess we can be pretty sure the MLS is going to be able to play games because they have been currently. The problem is if they can get butts in the seats because unfortunately thats where they make their money unlike other leagues that have more tv revenue to lean on.
