https://www.massivereport.com/2019/12/19/21029864/columbus-crew-2020-schedule-mls Thoughts ? I’m at work so i can’t really look at it like I want to
A lot of opportunities for away days. Some will complain about the lack of play against the west coast teams. The fact is that as the league expands and each conference grows we're going to play western teams with less frequency. That said, I was hoping for a Salt Lake away on a Wednesday this year. Maybe next year.
No games, here or there, against California. League saving on travel would be a very generous interpretation. Also, a gigantic break (international?) between our last two games.
One of the guys on the SiriusXM soccer channel brought up that same point about interconference games being more and more rare. He said such as part of how the league features a DC/SJ game and a LAG/DC game this year as "rematches" of the Inaugural Game and MLS Cup 96.
April 25,29& may 2nd It’s our first 3 gm stretch in 8 days of the season. We have way too many home games in April if you ask me and 4 away games in May & August??? Is there a reason for this ??? And 3 of 5 games in July on the road. I’m sure some warm weather team probably got screwed just like us i don’t like the 6 early home games i think it’s bad strategy by mls
It is. We have to play midweek at some point in the year but without a Gold Cup, it should be in good local weather like June or July rather than in April.
from a competitive standpoint, skipping the 3 Cali tams probably isn't the worst thing for us Orlando skips LAFC, SJ, and Seattle Toronto skips the very good trio of LAFC, Dallas, and Minnesota
13 Saturdays, 2 Sundays, and 2 Wednesdays (not the worst, but all those April games are unfortunate) Both the Cincy and Fire away games are on Sundays! (While both those sets of fans get to visit Columbus for a nice Saturday night kickoff.) Though at least the game in Chicago is at 2 in the afternoon, giving a reasonable chance to make it back to Ohio. But the game at Cincy at 8 o'clock on a Sunday night is going to be a little rough. I think Nashville is the next closest away trip, early afternoon Saturday March 21, but it looks like I'll miss that one. Best chance for an away doubleheader would seem to be at Toronto on August 8 and at NYC on August 12. (If you tacked on that game at Audi Field in DC too the week before, you'd definitely earn a Crew road warrior merit badge this year.) The two southern away trips at Atlanta and Miami as the very last 2 games of the season are a little unfortunate too. Though with the road game at Orlando in May, at least we should avoid the worst heat of the summer in the 2 Florida cities.
Inquiring minds (mine!!) want to know: •Why is the home RSL game on Mar 14 a 5pm start?? March home games should start between 12:30-2pm to take advantage of the sun (if any) for warmth. •Why only one weekend home game in May? Yes, there’s Sonic Music Festival, but that’s one weekend. •Three weekend home games in a row in June seems odd. •Why are we playing the three games in eight days in August at Toronto, at NYCFCDEF, then home to New England? It’s inevitable we’ll play a couple of 3-in-8’s, but the first two of those being road games?!?!? That’s brutal and should not happen. Too bad away to Nashville is so early. Not sure about March weather, even in Nashville.
https://www.columbuscrewsc.com/schedule Anybody else notice that, on this schedule, the May 2 game vs NY Red Bulls lists the match at “Red Bull Arena (USA)”? Are they trying to make sure people don’t mistakenly go to the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg or Leipzig??[emoji23][emoji23]
The schedule on Massive Reports says our last game (at Miami) is Saturday October 20. Today's Dispatch says that game is Sunday October 4. I suspect the October 20 date is a typo, since that would make for one huge gap between our last two games. Can anyone confirm?
When you clinch the Supporter's Shield in early September, you are allowed to skip the 10/4 game and go straight to the playoffs on 10/20.
I’m not sure where to put this but I tried to get two extra tickets in my section for the opener. My “membership specialist” sent me the cost of the two tickets. I then went to Ticketmaster to see what the going rate was and I’d have saved a whopping $1.42 (not including the Ticketmaster fee). Seems like the season ticket member discount isn’t what it used to be.
I think they are heading towards a baseball model. National League/American League. 36-40 teams. Few/no interconference games.
I haven't had any contact with my "membership specialist" since I signed up for full season seats. I found an email today which arrived yesterday saying individual game tickets were on sale for 2020. So I tried to buy some for Hell is Real but it claims it's already sold out. I don't believe that.
