Looks like our next 3 are postponed... I'm assuming that the Bournemouth was PP'ed for the FA Cup draw, right? FA Cup is still good to go on the 23rd vs Everton though...

The first one on that list is interesting - that it's the 3rd most-played tie in FA Cup history. The only ones I knew about were the '66 Final, where Wednesday blew a 2-goal second half lead and lost 3-2, and a semifinal (also lost) in the mid-80s, when Howard Kendall's Everton teams (Lineker, Reid, Southall, etc.) were really good. Somehow, it's difficult to see Wednesday avenging those losses tomorrow. It'd be great, though.
The first one stood out to me as well... Rafa is looking for a date... https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/23/rafa-benitez-china-dalian-pro
I like notes like that. It's the last game of the day at 8:00 P.M. local/3:00 P.M. for me/2:00 P.M. for you. I'm going to move and be in the Central Time Zone like you. Brentford has an early 1-0 lead hosting Leicester. After that at 5:00 P.M. local/12:00 P.M./11:00 A.M., one of the top four clubs will be eliminated when Man United hosts Liverpool. The Fifth Round draw was done right after the Fourth Round draw. If you beat Everton, you will host the winner of tomorrow's game of Tottenham at Wycombe. If Bournemouth beat Crawley on Tuesday, the Fifth Round won't have any clubs below League Championship, which hasn't happened since 2008-2009.
Benitez to Wednesday is a pipe dream. But, in all candor, I figured Benitez to Newcastle was a pipe dream, and not only did he go there, he made a proper fist of it, too. Still, it'll never happen. I won't allow myself to consider it.
FA Cup 4th round tie at Goodison will be starting in about ten minutes. It's being shown on ESPN+. Come on Wednesday!! UTO! FTB!
Wednesday down 1-0 at the half, but haven't looked too bad. They'be been fairly composed on the ball and created a bit for themselves, Reach, Bannon, and Harris all having their moments. Everton have had a little too much space in Wednesday's final third, and it could be worse; but they'll know they've not yet done enough to put it to bed. You've got to think a second, though, will be enough to do just that. Come on, Wednesday. Keep going forward. You're still in it!
All Everton in the second half. Two quick goals from set pieces around the hour mark put it to bed. 3-0 in the end, and frankly it could've been worse. Wednesday get it down and play it through midfield well enough, but they simply don't create real opportunities. They have, what, 15 goals from 23 League games? I'd love to blame the finishing, but there's nothing to finish. You watch them play and wonder how they could be so far down the table; but then you watch them a bit more and it starts to make sense. They just don't look like scoring. Ever.
I'm curious. Why does it feel like the Championship playoffs feel like clubs get paid more winning the playoffs then the 1st place automatic promotion to the EPL? And do both get a trophy for winning in their position? 1 for first place and the other for winning 3rd place spot to promotion?
I live in New York. In 2017 my sister and her husband moved to Omaha. They now have a daughter. My parents and I are going to move. On Tuesday I will turn 36 (I share my birthday with Jose Mourinho) having lived in one place, and I can't imagine not being a New Yorker. I don't use the benefits of being in a suburb of New York City other than indirectly like the Yankees having many fans and a lot of money to spend. I don't like change. I don't dislike Omaha, but I wouldn't want to move anywhere. I didn't leave the Eastern Time Zone until 2018. My parents bought the house I'm in in 1978. In terms of start times, I feel like 10:00 A.M. on Saturdays and 2:45 P.M. or 3:00 P.M. on weekdays were a good time because they were not too early and finished before games in the USA. Now the games are spread out. In terms of sports in the USA, the good thing is games will end earlier, but the bad thing is it is hard to finish supper before games at 7:00 P.M. local/6:00 P.M. for me after I move. On the topic of moving, I've downloaded files that said they were last modified tomorrow because they used GMT, which is five hours later than Eastern. For example, a file I downloaded at 9:00 P.M. would say tomorrow at 2:00 A.M. I didn't like the new Macintosh operating system, so I switched to a PC. I've never heard of a trophy for the playoffs.
There is a trophy for winning the Division and a different trophy for winning the playoff. I'm fairly certain that the League winners get greater compensation than the playoff winners. Regardless of how the divisional moneys are distributed, however, the real payoff (for the Championship, anyway) is in reaching the Premier League. It is in the season to come that promoted clubs get the big money, which dwarfs whatever prize money comes from winning either the 2nd tier title or its playoffs. It is this fact that makes people refer to the playoff final as 'the biggest single game payoff in football'. It's not for the prize money, it's for what comes next.
