First weekend's game predictions: Spirit (H) 1 v Sky Blue 0 Courage (H) 2 v Red Stars 1 Pride (H) 1 v Thorns 2 Dash (H) 1 v Reign 1
DC 2-0 NJ - Spirit will have its full lineup while Sky Blue is injured. Score could easily be flipped if both conditions flipped. NC 2-1 CHI - Chicago can stop NC from going crazy but won't stop everything ORL 2-1 POR - Based on end-of-preseason momentum and home field advantage. I'd generally pick POR otherwise. HOU 1-0 SEA - IDK
Thanks @SiberianThunderT ! Below re-posts everything with ORL in and the duplicate Sky Blue out, for easy reference: Regular Season 1. NCC 2. RFC 3. POR 4. CHI 5. UT 6. HOU 7. ORL 8. WAS 9. NJ Semis NCC over CHI in OT, because NCC will really be at home RFC over POR in OT, because RFC will be at home Final NCC over RFC in regulation, because NCC
WAS 2 - 1 SB. NCC 1 - 1 CHI. ORL 1 - 2 POR HOU 2 - 1 RFC Oh the futility of it all! I'm going to try to restrain myself this year from predicting more goals than are likely to happen.
1) North Carolina 2) Chicago 3) Seattle err Tacoma Reign FC 4) Houston 5) Portland 6) Utah 7) Washington 8) Orlando 9) Utah NCC over HOU CHI over Reign CHI over NCC Very quiet offseason makes significant movement up or down the table unlikely in 2019. I doubt the bottom teams are as bad as 2018, or the Courage as dominant. But more or less standings will remain quite stable. The biggest X factor is World Cup absences, this may give the lesser teams a lifeline. My boldest picks are a) Chicago finally getting past their semifinal curse and b) beating the Courage in the final. Somehow someway. Week 1 Washington 2, Sky Blue 0 NCC 2, Chicago 2 Orlando 1, Portland 2 Houston 2, Reign 1
(home team first) WAS - 1 vs. SB - 2 : Reddy 2.0 vs. Richie B. NC - 1 vs. CHI - 0 : First seven NC scores are always 1-0, one way or the other ORL - 2 vs. POR - 2 : Skinner, Morgan, Marta at home get the result HOU - 2 vs. RFC - 1 : Mewis back (even tho not playing), plus Daly, Ohai, and Huerta) beat Vlatko's machine - even with Pinoe.
FawcettFan14, I assume that's Sky Blue in 9th position, right? And, for your playoff predictions could you indicate whether each result will be in regulation, overtime, or by kicks from the mark? Those predictions, if correct, will get you points.
Thank you very much blissett Having fun is a great thing but I’m not here to have fun. I’m here to do my duty. I’m here to help you all to defeat those robot bastards. ¡¡¡C’mon, we can crush them¡¡¡ By the way, my real name is John Connor and my mother Sarah taught me all I know. lol Almost only the women’s team Please go to “Spanish League and WNT“ and I’ll try to answer your question
Finally the D-day is here. I’m going to make a few predictions in advance. Seville is a total madness during Holy Week and I’m not sure if I’ll have enough free time to think about NWSL before Resurrection Sunday. Good luck to all our clairvoyants. April, 13 Courage 2-1 Red Stars Spirit 1-0 Sky Blue April, 14 Pride 1-1 Thorns Dash 0-0 Reign April, 17 Courage 3-1 Pride April, 20 Red Stars 2-2 Thorns Sky Blue 0-1 Dash Royals 2-0 Spirit April, 21 Reign 1-1 Pride
We're going to crush the robots!!! Actually, I already made some so odd-looking predictions that I've got the feeling that I am going to be crushed by the robot since the beginning! But we won't stop the fight nonetheless!
Yes sorry-- Sky Blue in 9th. Playoffs NCC 3, Houston 1 in regulation Chicago 1, Seattle 0 in overtime Chicago 2, NCC 1 in regulation
Season predictions: 1. North Carolina Courage 2. Chicago Red Stars 3. Reign FC 4. Houston Dash 5. Portland Thorns FC 6. Utah Royals FC 7. Orlando Pride 8. SkyBlue FC 9. Washington Spirit Semifinals: NC 3, Houston 0 Chicago 1, Reign 2 Final: NC 2, Reign 0 Week 1 predictions: NC 1, Chicago 0 Washington 0, SkyBlue 1 Orlando 0, Portland 1 Houston 0, Reign 2 Fun fact: Paul Riley has never lost an opening match in NWSL, winning all 5 previous matches.
Hey, better late than never, @BlueCrimson! Who's still missing of the "regulars" from last season? Do we need to give a shout to anyone? For instance, @Blaze20 couldn't be really be called a "regular", in 2018, as she had been in 2017, but maybe she would want to take part anyway...
I guess like last year the lack of enthusiasm as we begin the season is affecting me. I do keep up via social media but just haven’t been around these parts frequently. I’ll be watching the games here today though.
Hey BlueCrimson: Are these results in regulation time or overtime (so you can score more points)? The NC games look like regulation, but even those theoretically could be overtime!
We have another new participant this year: BSBrainTrust. BrainTrust is the average of all of our predictions (humans and robot). It'll be fun/interesting to see what the BrainTrust can do. I'll include BSBrainTrust in the weekly reports. As of now, here are its predictions for this weekend's games (which may change if we get more participants). BrainTrust rounds to the nearest whole number. Spirit 1 (1.18) v Sky Blue 1 (0.64) Courage 2 (1.64) v Red Stars 1 (1.00) Pride 1 (0.82) v Thorns 1 (1.36) Dash 1 (1.00) v Reign 1 (0.82) No one gets shut out? I'll give BrainTrust's pre-season final standings and playoff results on Monday.
Mmm... so BSBrianTrust, being a mixed human-machine, is basically a cyborg... I am not sure if I dig cyborgs much more than robots. Welcome BSBrianTrust, but I am not sure if I'll easily come to term with your robotic parts.
It must be my fault. The last few years I've been really busy at this time of year and unable to watch the games live. Well not this year! I'm sitting here with nothing else to do, so even if I'll just be talking to myself, I'll be spamming in the Week 1 thread...
Hopefully it's not too late to make predictions for whole season. Regular Season 1. North Carolina 2. Portland Thorns 3. Chicago 4. Seattle Reign 5. Orlando 6. Houston 7. New Jersey 8. Utah 9. Washington Semis North Carolina defeats Reign in regulation 2-0 Portland Thorns defeats Chicago 4-3 in regulation Final Portland Thorns defeats North Carolina in exciting rematch of last season 2-1 in overtime!
