The Matildas are supposed to be gone this week, right? If so, I'm predicting: SBFC 0 - 1 POR UTA 2 - 0 ORL CHI 1 - 2 WAS (Cause no Kerr) RFC 1 - 1 NCC
Memorial Day Weekend Predictions Sky Blue 2, Portland 1: I continue to believe NJ will get a win soon Utah 2, Orlando 0: Pride were playing badly already and now lost their internationals Chicago 2, Washington 2: Spirit's impressive form will continue against the league's best team so far (now Kerr-less) Tacoma 1, North Carolina 3: something is very tepid about the Reign so far. Courage need to get their shooting boots on because their finishing has been woeful, maybe they find the touch this week
Even though I think 1-1 has more points on the season than I have; Here I Go Again Sky Blue 1-2 Thorns Royals 2-0 Pride Red Stars 2-0 Spirit Reign 0-2 Courage
The injury report for this week has just been pusblished: not only Matildas are gone, but so are gone basically all the players who will take part to the World Cup: Brazilians are out, Jamaicans are out (Cheyna Williams), Cameroonians are out (Estelle Johnson) and so on... I'll try to make my predictions accordingly, although the bottom line is: every team is depleted, so who knows what happens! NJ 2 POR 1 UTA 2 ORL 0 CHI 1 WAS 0 SEA 1 NC 1
Almost all the WC players are gone. The only ones still available are Bowen and Erceg, and they leave after this weekend. My predictions: SkyBlue 1, Weeds 0 Utah 1, Orlando 0 Chicago 1, Washington 1 Reign 0, North Carolina 2
We're all in. There may be carnage with this week's scores -- we'll see. Here's what the BSBrainTrust has come up with: SkyBlue 1 (1.25) v Thorns 1 (1.25) Royals 2 (1.67) v Pride 0 (0.25) RedStars 2 (1.58) v Spirit 1 (1.00) Reign 1 (0.92) v Courage 1 (1.42)
holden has had a brilliant week with 9 of a possible 12 points, to move into 1st place. Very impressive. Tapas&Futbol was next with 7, to retain 2nd place. Here's how we all stand after week 7:
Here are some home/away data for the last full season's worth of games (the last 108 games), courtesy of the robot:
The robot's predictions for Week 8: Spirit 1 v Royals 1 Pride 1 v Courage 2 Reign 2 v Dash 1 Thorns 2 v RedStars 1 (This was the toughie for the robot, could be 1-1.)
Holden was close to a perfect record: congratulations. You can be free not to believe me, but I had SEA-NCC correctly guessed at 2-1 just moments before posting my prediction, but then I said to myself: "Naaah, Courage can't possibly lose another game, can they?" and I changed it to 1-1! And, with all of my fiddling with injuries and NT duties (I was even aware that Rumi Utsugi, although not listed as out on the official injury report, was actually out with an injury at the hand because of a domestic incident, as reported on Seattle Reign 2019 thread), I completely forgot that Jessica Fishlock was back in Seattle, after winning UEFA Champions' League with Olympique Lyonnais last week! She's one of those players who can make a HUGE difference in a team! Oh well, the important thing is that I didn't lose any points to the robot this week either.
I just had the opposite experience. I made my predictions on Monday and picked a 1-1 but a bit before posting them on Wednesday I noticed the return of Fishlock and the departure of Debinha and then fortunately changed my mind.
We're 29 games into the season. Here's how we're doing this year, as compared to last year at 29 games. Some of our returning predictors missed games last year, whereas our predictors have predicted all games this year except for Blaze20 (there's 1 predictor who missed 1 game but posted what that prediction would have been and I entered that prediction into the system). holden - 41 this year. Didn't participate last year. Tapas&Futbol - 40. Didn't participate last year. Smallchief - 39/20 last year. Didn't predict some games last year. blissett - 37/32. FawcettFan14 - 37/31. Didn't predict a bunch of games last year. lunatica - 37/27. McSkillz - 37. Didn't participate last year. robot - 36/44. CoachJon - 33/39. SiberianThunderT - 33/20. Didn't predict a bunch of games last year. 59Amerinorsk - 31/31. Didn't predict a few games last year. BlueCrimson - 29/31. Based on this, newcomers holden and Tapas&Futbol are doing very slightly better than last year's human leader CoachJon as of this stage of the season (41 and 40 points, as compared to 39). On the other hand, the robot has dropped considerably since last year (44 last year as compared to 36 this year). Thus the humans' leads over the robot aren't primarily due to the humans having improved a lot, they're due to the robot having trouble.
Thanks! I'm really still in shock that I managed to get 2 games exactly right. And was so close to getting a 3rd right. All that really matters is beating the robot.
We're reaching the point in the season where team records are stand-alone truths as opposed to more based on who you've played. This week we're seeing 1v2, 3v4, and 5v6 (and then 7v9). In that light, I'll say... 1-1 all
While I am waiting for the injury report (and BTW LaBonta got a two game suspension), I switched my avatar for the World Cup in support of the Lionesses of the Netherlands ( #Leeuwinnen ) Three Lionesses of England ( #Lionesses ) Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon ( #IndomitableLionesses ) , and my North Carolina Courage ( #NoFinishLine #LaytheTracks )
She had a supension for that horrible foul that hadn't been actually sanctioned by the referee? Was she suspended based on the TV-footage proof? On the other hand, an avatar of a seal wouldn't have let you many teams to support at the World Cup!
