Next years Coaches meeting/seminar (whatever they call it now) will be in Chicago from what I've heard.
1. Chicago 2. SkyBlue 3. Washington/SkyBlue 4. Washington 5. North Carolina 6. Chicago 7. Chicago 8. Washington/SkyBlue 9. Seattle The 3 and 8 spots haven't been decided yet due to the conditions of the trade of the #1 spot in the dispersal draft.
if SkyBlue folds, does Washington automatically get the #2 & #3 pick? And does the first round only have 7 picks? 1. Chicago 2. Washington 3. Washington 4. North Carolina 5. Chicago 6. Chicago 7. Seattle
Based on NWSL precedent, SBFC will still draft and then fold after the draft... If they were to fold before the draft, then the logical thing would be to see if the condition is met, not just invalidate the condition. Does anybody know what the condition actually is? I can't find the details of the condition in any news reports of the trade. Usually, though, it's if the team makes the playoffs or some sort of performance based qualification, so I would guess it wasn't met.
This years United Soccer Coaches Convention will be held in Chicago. I plan to attend and be at the NWSL draft. http://unitedsoccercoachesconvention.org/
I'll be there as always, but I doubt I'll get to the women's draft. Since MLS and the NWSL swapped Thursday and Friday as draft days, I haven't made it to the NWSL draft as MLS has kept me working.
I usually circulate through the draft tables a couple of times. I can also be found very early acting as a test subject on stage setting up blocking shots. I typically only shoot the first draft pick from the floor. My home for the last decade has been the coach and player shots backstage. As the number of bodies present declines in the second round, I do usually make a late second pass out into the draft room. But every year is different.
Not the last two years. In LA in 2017 and Philly earlier this year the NWSL draft was on Thursday and MLS SuperDraft on Friday. Prior to 2017 the order was reversed.
Just to be sure, I'd keep an eye on the event calendar at the United Soccer Coaches Convention website. https://unitedsoccercoaches.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003274953-2019-Convention-Schedule

New eligibility options. Players can leave college early like the NBA and NFL or skip college all together, you don’t just have to be a senior. This draft just got a bit more interesting. http://www.nwslsoccer.com/news/#reg...-draft-opens-monday-eligibility-rules-amended
I was thinking the money is not huge in the NWSL unlike in the NBA or NFL, so leaving college early and not finishing your degree is less attractive than in the other two sports?
Very true, and I doubt many players that the option. I'm betting the option has been opened to let players who have legit shots at the NT chose to go professional as soon as possible, since that will help them develop faster than simply playing their peers for four years.
Maybe this is a workaround they developed rather than having the allocation madness like with Pugh. Let the teams draft Davidson/Mace/whoever else and there will be no room for debate.
That’s my thinking as well, it’s mostly for players getting looks at the national team. But you never know, a couple highly touted players might decide to enter that aren’t getting looks at the national team.
Worked out for Jessica McDonald. Not everybody can, for whatever reason, reasonably stay on track to graduate and keep their eligibility. Even the WUSA had an 18 year-old player - Daniela, if I recall.
I don't usually do "hypothetical" with my mock drafts but since we got some new rules why not, it's still early. Chicago - Jessie Fleming Sky Blue - Tierna Davidson Sky Blue - Julia Ashley Washington - Hailie Mace North Carolina - Bunny Shaw Chicago - Alana Cook Chicago - CeCe Kizer (Favorite player in the draft, I really want Chicago to pick her) Washington - Dorian Bailey Seattle - Tegan McGrady Sky Blue - Jordan DiBiasi Sky Blue - Michelle Xiao Houston - Sam Staab Houston - Kayla McCoy North Carolina - Taylor Racioppi Chicago - Emily Ogle Houston - Ally Prisock Portland - Maria Sanchez Houston - Julie James
