As a reminder: if I'm not mistaken, Brian West is ineligible for his first game of this year's US Open Cup.
Round 2 of THE CUP kicks off tonight! Nine matches this evening, 13 matches tomorrow. What a soccering delight. My eyes will be on @Draghignazzo's Dayton Dutch Lions as they travel to Pittsburgh to battle the mighty Riverhounds. I also have the Las Vegas Lights/Cal FC match penciled in; it should be an emotionally charged affair as Cal FC matches up against the club's former boss. Also, GO 'MINGOS! Come on, y'all! For the love of Lamar, get rowdy! It's THE CUP! EDIT: Watch THE CUP Here Tip - You'll have to flip to the "Live Now" section once the games have started.
we'll see who wins tonight and tomorrow, but the 3rd round pairings are out https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...n-cup-third-round-pairings-host-scenarios-set The Pittsburgh/Dayton survivor plays the Indy/Lansing winner. Louisville or Reading will get to host Birmingham or West Chester (PA). St Louis or Des Moines will get to host the El Paso/Madison winner. That said, I would not be shocked if the Crew magically get shunted east to be in a group with DC and Philly, instead of being in the same pod as Cincinnati and other midwestern teams. My they-don't-want-the-Crew-and-Cincy-to-play-each-other-before-August sense is tingling. That plan could be ruined though if enough eastern teams advance to force the Crew westwards instead.
I'm probably going to watch the Indy - Lansing game. We have that one draft pick Raphael Mentzingen who's playing for them. If he doesnt start then I probably wont bother.
Lansing. Hes signed to them for the season. Then the intent is for him to join us in preseason next year and then fight for his spot with us and maybe we sign him.
We also have Lundgaard loaned out to the Riverhounds, although he is coming back from an injury. Still, it's possible we could see him tonight. I'm hoping Opoku gets some playing time for Birmingham tomorrow night.
So help me out. Are we rooting for or against the Austin Bold? One one side, it's a hatred of all things Austin. On the other side, the loons seem to hate the Bold so if they hate them, I love them. Help me out.
As much as those clowns trolled us (and even me on Twitter a few times, which is hard to do), I'll show love for the Bold. Bold as Love . . . . . . ATXis Bold as Love . . . I really get bored once the semester ends. Speaking of which, are there live streams of these Open Cup games?
How I didn't know that is baffling, given as how those famed and faithful Eleven from NapTown often give me an excuse to drink lots of IPA mid-week. And Hartford downs the Cosmos logo. My, the drama!
We should totally support the Bold. Their owner while bringing soccer to Austin the right way(start small, USL)....is/has worked to keep PSV out. Obviously for his own selfish reasons (his team) but we share a common enemy.
I mean. I'll root for The Bold and for Precourt to fail. But I've no inclination to spend the energy supporting The Bold. If you've got extra disposable income for supporting soccer, support one of the local Cols. teams like The Eagles, or FC Columbus.
Dom scored in overtime for Charlotte, but then Florida Soccer Soldiers tied it up again in the 119th minute! He hit his pk, but one of the other Charlotte guys missed, so Florida Soccer Soldiers advanced with the big upset of the night. Pittsburgh beat Dayton, so they host the Indy/Lansing winner. Austin also won.
