I keep forgetting about a photo and news dump posts. I actually have one in another tab that was somehow going to be posted in a PC&E thread a week or so ago. There are a lot of developments that haven't been mentioned in this thread. Three of the six arches of the new bridge are complete and waiting for one more piece to go up to make that 4 of 6 (pieces of the final 2 are going up). Peninsula 88 looks ready for move ins. They are showing models. The redevelopments of the former Coast Guard and DHS buildings are coming along. A hotel couple of blocks north of the stadium is going up quickly and an apartment building has had significant foundational work. Since I have a bunch of tabs open about developments that no longer feel timely, here's one that's relatively recent. https://www.bisnow.com/washington-d...-break-ground-on-buzzard-point-project-104239 I wouldn't be surprised if this means a tailgating spot is gone soon. I'm not sure how much that Sandlot was ever actually open. Z's is now closed for good and this project looks to be breaking ground soon. The EagleBank Field grass is a beautiful green. The football goalposts are gone. The banners to celebrate legends are still barely hanging and look tacky and forgotten. There's now an e-tron inside the main gate.
Given that Vince MacMahon is a grifter and had failed at exactly this operation many years earlier, all signs point to "yes". It's one thing to run a traveling soap opera like "professional" wrestling with a few 'roided up half wits, it's an entirely other thing to put together a league of players with real coaches, real trainers and a real medical staff, not just Dr. Feelgood dispensing pills.
I wanted to give the asshole the benefit of doubt for his money laundering scheme until he abruptly killed the league and filed for bankruptcy. After that, it was just confirmed that MacMahon was just doing what he always does.
I remember back in the day when RFK had field signage and the Dicks sign was next to something that said "it's what's in you" or something to that effect. Signs were moved before next match. Ahh, the good ol' days.
in the good "new" days, every time we walked passed it my kids loved to comment on the fuku" sign....
I was visiting Buzzard Point Park since that has been accessible for a few weeks. I wanted to go near the water, but a couple of geese (******** Canada) were blocking the ramp when I noticed my friend. Then some crows started to circle the area as well. I left.
Since the arch on the right in this photo was finally completed yesterday, I might not post photos from last week.
Somehow I ended up on their spam list, and I regularly get email from the alias "Dick's | Flash Sale" At least someone had the basic decency to insert a courtesy pipe.
RIP, Kayla, the Crystal Palace FC bald eagle mascot. I'm not a Palace fan, but it's a great story. BTW, per the tea leaves, DCU will be sponsoring a local bald eagle rehab program, with the possibility of one day having our own eagle swooping into Audi on gamedays. https://theathletic.com/1882281/202...ystal-palace-eagle?source=user-shared-article
Oh, I dunno. A live eagle power-diving in, emptying its colon over the visiting fans' section, buzzing the eff out of the visiting players, landing gracefully on the goal crossbar in front of the Chico End . . . Yawn.* It's all been done before (Benfica, Palace, Auburn pointyball). Now, the reality of a live eagle chasing down** some [insert food item] might be quite cool. * Kidding. I'd love to see DCU do this. ** Assuming Ben actually starts the bird vs. "maybe subbing him in at the 80-something minute." Just sayin'.
