Apparently defensive organization and tactical discipline succumbed to Covid-19. Some nice goals today, but mostly because of stupid defensive mistakes.
These games resemble pre season for sure. Doubt they will be back to their normal level for the final eight games.
Admittedly, I don't usually watch the Bundesliga, but I thought the RB Leipzig/Freiburg match was pretty good. And even if it wasn't, I wouldn't expect everyone to be at full speed after that long of a break. They'll get there. (I assume.)
Union Berlin v. Bayern München starts with the playing of "Eisern Union" sung by Nina Hagen. I would love to see a match at the Alte Försterei, but without fans, it has the atmosphere of Sunday Morning Adult Open Division Soccer. I could imagine them hanging out for beers in the parking lot after the game.
chelseas-hudson-odoi-arrested-after-incident-with-woman Article has few details about what happened. Anyone know more?
England’s Premier League has dropped its opposition to lifting the long-standing 3pm match blackout https://www.tvbeurope.com/media-delivery/premier-league-drops-opposition-to-3pm-match-broadcasts
I would hope so seeing as though the blackout is intended to get people to actually go to the games. No need for that with empty stadiums.
Watching Bayern - Düsseldorf and it's really exciting to watch the development of MLS product Alphonso Davies as a top-flight player. It also sounds like Chris Richards is starting to impress with the Bayern Reserves.
When your "B" team is on the verge of promotion to the second division (though barred by rule), you have a lot of talent. Especially as your "A" team would pretty much be two full teams almost anywhere else in the league (needed, to be fair, to have enough players to compete in the CL).
While I don't really *like* the dubbed-in crowd noise, with the cardboard fans, it almost feels like a real game and not a ghost game in Gladbach today.
The players involved (there were a couple others, including McKennie) may be going before the DFB Board for this. Political actions by players are forbidden by rule.
Not really--it avoids having a political protest every 5 seconds--which is what you would have if the floodgates were open. We must also recall the Europe has different ideas on "free speech" than we do. Part of that is due to their past. Mind you, I expect the consequences in this case to be light--a bit heavier for the guys that marked up their undergarments (as it's a rule for any personal message, not just political), as that impacts the sponsors of those items.
