Tomorrow we play at home vs Augsburg. Underestimating Augsburg is unwise, as they managed to steal a point from Bayern two weeks ago, meaning they'll be a much tougher opponent than they seem. Still this is a must-win game to remain Top of the table, and I would also like for us to keep another clean sheet, of which we've only had two. Three points and a clean sheet, please.
And they hammered Freiburg. I am feeling a little worried about Reus' workload, though, and unfortunately (for us not him) he won't rest on the international break. I guess Favre plays him and hopes the Die Mannschaft only uses him once. I feel Favre's pain, though, since you have two guys up front on whom the offense hinges, Reus and Alcacer, who have nothing comparable behind them on the depth chart. Maybe Kagawa is 1/4 of a Reus, but he is also hurt. It makes me appreciate a little more how hard Favre is trying to get productivity and minutes from Wolf and Philipp. You _need_ them to carry some load and to be ready to carry it all.
I am worried about Reus too. He has not only played a lot of football he has also worked very hard. I think he must be close to an injury. This is why I said our other attacking players are not at the required standard. Would you feel confident of the attacking working if Reus was rested tomorrow? Wolf has not shown anything to suggest he will ever be good enough and I don;t have much faith in Philipp, but Philipp deserves his shot playing in his proper position.
Nice chance for Reus that he usually converts. Augsburg aren't playing bad, we need to use these kind of chances. What's promising is that the pair Sancho/Hakimi can create dangerous situations.
0:1 halftime. Not a good game for us. We aren't really in the game yet, almost similar to the first half of the Leverkusen game. Not sure whether there is reason for complaints for the goal. Reus was probably fouled and the guy who fouled him got to the ball instead of Reus and the goal scorer got the ball to the hand. Not a 100% clear situation but still a couple of questionable actions that probably should have been at least reviewed.
Weigl is a curious case. Some games it's tackle after tackle even if he's on a yellow and in this game there is almost no physicality from him to the point of avoiding duals. Augsburg play very physical and you have to counter that one way or the other. Paco with the 1:1. Nice assist by Sancho. More of that, please, Punish these thugs.
why DAFUQ is paco not starting every game?!?!? wow. augs playing dirty AF, the amount of fouls committed
Alcacer 4:3: What a fantastic goal by a fantastic player. By the way, that is yet another goal that Augsburg concedes after a freekick because of their stupid and non-stop fouling. Get off our pitch, you thugs.
