One step forward, two steps back? No formation change, but three changes to the lineup: Alberg starting at the 10, Bedoya to the 8 with Jones now on the bench, ELLIOT!? starting at RCB?
I'm disappointed to still not see Picault in the 18. I thought he was promising in the limited minutes he's played this week. The offensive subs don't excite me: Najem, Herbers, Simpson
They look a lot better than the last couple games at least. Thank goodness the Bedoya CAM experiment seems to be over. Anyone just catch the "********, Jimbo's getting getting fired by the guy sitting next to me" look on Chris Albright's face?
Considering they were just talking about how the Union don't have enough quality players, Stewart shouldn't be sitting pretty either.
My patience is officially spent. I can't take this anymore. We have a coach who's been in over his head from day one, a sporting director who can't make a decent signing to save his life, an owner who couldn't care less if they lost every single game 7-0, and a cadre of players who couldn't find the goal if you handed them a GPS and an instruction manual. Other teams have players with Villa's quality. We have guys who would look overmatched in a high school game. This team makes me want to punch something, cry, and scream all at the same time. Call me a fair-weather fan, do whatever, but this isn't good for my health. I don't think I can support this team anymore. I may as well Goodwill off all my merchandise and start over with a new team. This team sucks. I feel terrible for you guys who have paid for tickets and have no choice but to continue. But my God, I just don't know what to say anymore. I cannot continue to root for a loser with no indication that they care. Walk me back from the cliff, please.
My response to you is the same as it was to Hoppenot..hard to be a fair-weather fan when there is never fair-weather.
Also can we talk about how that Villa goal is just the perfect metaphor for the Union's entire existence?
It was embarrassingly obvious from the commentary that the Union was primarily concerned with damage control. You heard from the announcers about Curtin wanting to be judged on this season alone, the FO grasping at straws to make excuses for the unacceptable results, and multiple complaints about the budget. I'm right there with you.
Well....thanks to Villa the Union will be on highlight shows all across the world tomorrow. So we got that going for us...which is nice.
I caught the last 25-30 minutes. In that time the Union created zero chances and Villa scored from 60 yards out. Pretty much sums up the season. Did Coach Local resign yet?
I started laughing uncontrollably after that Villa chip. Right in the middle of the river end. That was one of the most Union things ever. Jesus Christ, this is the worst team I've ever seen. It's amazing just how bad they are.
Also re. the Villa goal, you wouldn't believe how many times my old rec league teams had goals like that scored against us. So...thanks for the nostalgia?
This might be the worst iteration of a union team i've ever seen. The apathy showed by the team in the last 40 minutes was pathetic. Curtain has to be fired by the end of the weekend. Not really sure what other option there is.
