I want to take this opportunity to thank the Red Bull fans who purchased my seats. Hope you enjoyed the show.

I'll jump on this because I get the discussion from both sides. I think the Union have about 10-11k STH. They almost always announce paid attendance emphasizing the paid bit. I do not have any reason to suggest that this number is anything other than accurate with respect to money in the bank from real sales. Looking a 7500-8500 tickets per game in inventory, its reasonable to expect about 6000 sales. My son's club had a night last Saturday and I know we paid for a couple hundred seats. I don't know there is actually much in it for the team to lie or to paper the area with freebies because that ultimately makes selling tickets harder. Additionally, there were a couple extreme weather games, the Seattle one in year two jumps out, where they announced actual attendance. For the Portland game, nothing was announced in stadium.

Some straight talk from my 6 year old: "dad they said there are 15 thousand people here. I don't think that's true."

Your son is now running this thread. I expect updates after every game.

18,399 announced last night vs Colorado. I'm guessing there was a lot of traffic because the place was empty at the beginning but noticeably was full and loud around the second Union goal.

Still waiting on baby @slitz for the official announcement.

I think it was reasonably accurate Saturday. Lots stayed in club or watched from the deck.

15,413 on a Wednesday night vs the Crew, although it looked more like 5,413 on tv.

Eh, 15k is probably fair... it didn't feel that empty in person.

15,200 on a Saturday night in an important game is a pretty good indicator that people have stopped caring.

I'd normally say empty seats speak loudest of all, but in this case it's actually those sweet, sweet expansion fees that do. So oh well, we will suck forever.

    You are not even trying.

The away supporters section was full of fans that traveled to see their team play the Union.

Don't hesitate to come out to a Union match, we always have seats at the ready.

With the sad loss of a dear friend, many fans could not bring themselves out to the game. We will welcome them back when they are healed.

(More of a blame the fans approach.) Look what happens when you do not show up to cheer on the team. Come out to the next match and get us a win.

It's summer time guys, people are on vacation! Plus head to head with the Phillies and a chance of afternoon and evening showers in the summer time?!? The Union are so beloved that they still drew 15k+ in these tough against all odds conditions!

To me, it's not so much the total paid seat quantity and/or vacancy at the beginning/during a match ... it's the mass exodus before the final whistle that speaks volumes. TRE was 1/4 full after Montreal's second goal, you could read the word "UNION" in the seats on the bridge side, etc.

Game was an hour later than usual. Had that "Day after Daylights Savings" feel to it.

At this rate, the Union are only a few years away from 10-12K games.

17,221, which might the worst exaggerated Union total in their short history.

I can't believe they even announced such an obviously inflated number.

I also can't remember the last time a Saturday night match was THAT empty. It was painful to see.
