I was going to start a thread on it. I thought I was being imaginative. Didn't recall being accustomed to them around here.

Officially starts in England, Germany, and France in a few hours. Those are pertinent leagues, arguably the most, for YA.

Hopefully we finally get news on several fronts now that we've been waiting for, i.e.: Jordan Morris, Bjorn Johnsen, Dillon Powers, Perry Kitchen, Bill Hamid, etc.

The Daily Mirror sez Sirigu ain't coming to Villa because ... eh, they're Villa.

So, off the first day rumors, Guzan's still got a gig.

More rumors - Sunderland is looking at central defenders, namely Jan Kirschoff of Bayern. Obviously, Sam doesn't want to play Billy Jones in the middle, even as an emergency.

Everton has (allegedly) inquired about a new GK - David Marshall of Cardiff City. Cardiff is said to be asking for £10M. Whether Marshall will be named a starter, if acquired, remains to be seen.

I didn't know he played cricket. Is he a batsman, or a bowler?

MLS Transfers pretty much confirmed that he had no interest from Europe.

That makes sense, he is a project and nobody wants to pay a lot of money for a project. If he was a free agent, why not.

He is just not very consistent with everything. Teams will pay for consistency, it is just easier for a club to pay for a South American player that has played many games and show good consistency. He just needs more time and experience. There has been more consistent players leave and not do much so he is a big risk. Perfect example Jozy.

I don't agree, I think he's pretty consistent for the game he plays, just not as skilled as people want him to be, so people call it inconsistency, but I won't derail this thread any further with this discussion.

Anything above a League One - not to be confused with Ligue Un - player.

And those don't warrant high bids and high wages.

Or is that 'too glib' again?

Nobody wants to pay decent money for him as a) he's not that good at even the most basic aspects of the game(touch/IQ) and b) he's 24.

Agree. Think he missed his chance abroad, unless he wants to go to a development league for a few years (at not great money) and see what happens.

May be an issue to get a UK work permit. We'll see.

Bingo, I was just nicer than you, but agree with you, I'm sure in Europe scouts can find 100 players just like him and even younger and cheaper.

Kirchhoff (correct spelling) is taking a medical at Sunderland. £1M deal, as he was to be out of contract in half a season.
