Ives (or whomever wrote this for him) has us taking two LBs with our first two picks. (Though they do note they expect us to actually trade our first round pick).
SBI...sigh. Here are their mock choices for the Rapids. Sigh..... Round 1: 2- COLORADO RAPIDS – Brandon Vincent, Left Back, Stanford The Rapids are in dire need of attacking help, but they are prepared to address that deficiency on the international market. Another area of need is left back, where there happens to be a top prospect available in Vincent. The Rapids are more likely to trade this pick, but if they keep it, look for them to take Vincent, though Abu Danladi could prove too tough to pass up. Round 2 22- COLORADO RAPIDS – Taylor Washington, Left Back, George Mason The Rapids went into the draft needing help at left back, and Washington was the most impressive left back at the Combine. Edit: Jason wins
Anyone else seen the story about top rated RB Keegan Rosenberry? Kid wants to sign a HG deal with Union, the Union want to sign him to HG deal, however Keegan took a summer off to get closer to graduating (Georgetown) instead of playing for Union's academy, thus losing his Philly HG status. Who he plays for now will be decided via Superdraft. Guess you can say the MLS are really clamping down on HG status so their college draft still has some relevance, previously we learned last few years, players could refuse to sign HG contract and then enter via Draft.

Colorado Rapids - Jack Harrison, M, Wake Forest It's no secret that the Rapids have a number of holes on the roster and the selection of Harrison addresses a significant need. Harrison will be able to play an attacking midfield role or play on the wing which should help the Rapids create chances and score more goals. - John Rosch, Burgundy Wave Look at only Midfielders: http://www.thebentmusket.com/2016/1/12/10745906/mls-superdraft-preview-midfielders-to-watch-for
Are you writing for MLS now? MLS final mock http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2016/...ll-go-no-1-our-final-2016-mock-mls-superdraft 2. Colorado Rapids: Brandon Vincent, LB (Stanford) I feel like if they were really going to make Dillon Serna a left back it would have happened already. That means Vincent fills a position of need for the Rapids, and like Yaro he's an instant starter. Don't overthink it -- just make the right pick.
How could any team turn down a left back that could be an instant starter? There are so few solid players at that position in MLS that he is a "must draft" type of player. As for the attacking needs that the Rapids have, I'm hoping they'll address them by getting someone like Pulido.
Since I am not even sure we have 2 avg MLS CBs on roster, I still am going Yaro over Vincent. That being said, I fully expect Rapids to trade the pick with some deal that will leave us all scratching our heads.
Doyle makes some MLS draft calls: http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2016/...2016-mls-superdraft-here-are-five-predictions 4. The Colorado Rapids will pick a GA kid at No. 2 Their cap situation is not great, which means they need to get somebody whose contract is off the books. That could be Yaro or Harrison, which would push Vincent down to No. 3 (Philly would be fine with that, even if by all accounts Harrison is their favorite player in the draft). The other thing to bear in mind is that Colorado could be on the verge of some serious moves (plural). They're also No. 2 in the Allocation Order, and there are indicators that's going to be meaningful in the not-too-distant future. Plus I think it's telling that Dillon Powers went on trial with Reading with Colorado's blessing. Trades could very well be made as the roster rebuild continues in earnest. The upshot of all of this is that if they pass on Vincent, they probably have to make Dillon Serna a full-time left back (finally). Serna has all the tools to be a game-changer at that spot, and his defensive instincts are better than people realize. All he needs at this point are reps.
Wow, that's a whole lot of talk with no substance. We don't really have cap issues, not sure where that's coming from, so we don't need an off the books player. Particularly when we're talking about less than $100K regardless of who we pick. More vague talk about maybe making a move with our allocation spot. Vague talk about Powers, a move that got torpedoed when Reading made a managerial change. Vague talk about serious moves (pural) despite the only rumor of a serious move being Pulido or Vela (there's no way I'll believe they are actually trying to get both of them). So unless Doyle has much better contacts than anyone else covering the Rapids, fan or journalist, this appears to be fluff to fill space.
Yeah, I really don't agree with his Serna outlook but since he is MLS writer, I was intrigued with his Salary Cap comment.
My prediction is we trade (good trade too) the #2 pick to a team looking to snag Vincent. Still getting a top rated guy in draft. Hope they grab my sleeper pick- CB Thomas Libih
Matthew Doyle suggested that NYCFC would offer Mix to trade up to #2 to get Harrison. That would be a hard offer to turn down.
First move of the day: http://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2016/0...-money-exchange-2016-mls-superdraft-selection Targeted Allocation Money to LA for us receiving the #12 pick overall.
Well, I don't think the #12 pick will be a big boost to our roster, more likely a depth guy or someone who takes a couple of years to develop, but it probably is the right deal for the Rapids to make since we likely wouldn't make moves with said "targeted allocation money". I'm hoping we get a starter who can play major minutes for us with the #2 pick or make a really good trade for a proven player.
Newest rumor is that the Revs are talking to the Rapids about the #2 pick so they can take Vincent. Nothing the Revs have interests me enough to pass on Vincent.
