I've decided to get this party started this year, and put a little MLS style into it with the MLS weekly PBP threads I...just...kinda took over some time last year. Anyway, here's the first week of the schedule: Washington Spirit v. Boston Breakers — April 16, 7:00pm — YouTube Houston Dash v. Chicago Red Stars — April 16, 8:30pm — YouTube FC Kansas City v. Western New York Flash — April 16, 8:30pm — YouTube Seattle Reign v. Sky Blue FC — April 17, 7:00pm — YouTube Portland Thorns v. Orlando Pride — April 17, 10:00pm — YouTube All times EDT (UTC-4) Do any NWSL teams have local TV contracts? I know the Pride doesn't. I would say something about comments remaining neutral... but based on what I've read about NWSL supporters, I'm sure I don't need to remind you all of that. Best of luck for the 2016 season.
FREEDOM?! Do you mean Spirit? Thanks for the Youtube links. FC KC vs Orl. Pride should be a good one.
We have weekly PBP threads here too. Though, not always so early... sometimes not until the first game of that week starts. But then we'll keep talking in it until someone starts the next one. I think BlueCrimson started most of them last season (although, I had fun with this one). But I don't think anyone's gonna fight you for the responsibility if you want to handle it.
Ah, that's too bad, and kinda surprising.... I know Portland and Houston have in past seasons, and I thought a third team did, too (I wanna say KC or WNY). Haven't heard anything about this season itself, though.
Maybe I think they should still be called Freedom. Or maybe I was just too tired last night. I missed an entire day of matches on the MLS GDT. WNY wouldn't be surprising, since the Rhinos have been on local TV in the past.
You know it's close when the ref assignments comes out! http://www.proreferees.com/2016-nwsl-regular-season-assignments---week-1.php Head refs: The only thing really left to wait for is the injury report...
Guys I am going to be in an Internet free zone this weekend. You can probably imagine how this pains me.
Which is exactly why we have specially arranged to have this weekends match es archived on Youtube! No, no, dont mention it. As there is virtually no chance u could see scores on tv or in the paper, ur all set.
One of my student groups has a booth at the DC Science and Engineering Festival, and we've had people flake, so I finally bit the bullet and agreed to take the afternoon/evening session... Won't be able to make it up to the 'plex, but I in theory could be home in time to watch opening kickoff on YouTube...
Hooray for Science and Engineering - and props to you from a former Science Olympiad judge, Odyssey of the Mind Dad, and current Engineer.
I am going to be away from a computer from now until after today's games are played. Even though STT is not doing a weekly prediction contest this year and even though I am average At Best at predicting , here goes BOS 0 at WAS 1 CHI 2 at HOU 1 WNY 1 at KC 1 SB 0 at SEA 2 ORL 2 at POR 1
01' 0-0 Kickoff confirmed, we're safe in the 4th season. (room erupts) Washington backpass to Labbé. Very grainy/blurry video. Scoreclock graphic fail: it's on page 2 of a 2-"page" buffer, and whenever they switch to it, the rest of the picture is all-black 03' 0-0 McCaffrey dribbles 1-v-1 to box top right, jukes around a backpedaling defender, down box right to 6m, floats a cross to 4m center, Labbé catches face-high. 03' 1-0 Dunn drives down wide right, floats a cross to 7m 1/3 left. #15 Lohman bicycle , bounces under Stout's dive into right side netting. Trots back to midfield and dabs in center circle.
Oops, no Matheson, if Fishlock doesn't play tomorrow I'm down a midfielder on the fantasy team! Rookie!
05' 1-0 Sound dies. 06' 1-0 Scoreclock graphic on-screen! They flattened the layers 07' 1-0 #10 Banini weaves through many to box top mid-left, turns and pokes to Lohman at arc top mid-right. Lohman touches to 15m mid-right, shoots right instep low to 6-top 1/3 right, Stout sprawls centerward and blocks ball along 6-top. Banini darts through and collects alone at 6-top left, stumbles and shanks her shot toward empty net, wide left low into left side netting. Shambolic both ways.
Spirit stream somehow got worse since last year. I added Matheson with like 5 min till team lock and then saw the starting lineup and immediately go her out of there.
08' 1-0 Dash/Plush live video conference ends just as I join it. What was it? 09' 1-0 Stream pbp guy joins. Dang -- I almost prefer the raw crowd noise. 10' 1-0 Banini squares to Nairn at 22m center. Nairn steps into left foot drive to left post low, Stout dives to left post and stops ball, doesn't catch it. Ball sits motionless at her feet until she sits up to collect. 11' 1-0 Mewis turns past 1 through 14m mid-right to ~9m, bounces a shot wide left or a cross too fast. McCaffrey runs on at 2m left post and shoots one-touch, wide left up the hill.
