I agree with everything you've noted. HHC is still too immature to start the next two matches. He really needs to come off the bench. And playing in the second division in Austria is just a mistake for his development. He really would have benefited from a full season in the K-league to learn how to be consistent. For now, we need to use him properly in this tournament setting. He needs to be a spark off the bench against tiring legs.

As for the lack of communication, it was worrying. I counted three occasions where Mexico or Germany would have pummeled us on the counterattack. There were two instances near the corner flag that were embarrassing as well where we let the attacker through on a 2v1 and 3v1. That comes down to a lack of communication. The CB to GK back pass/mis-direction at the end was just poor communication at its worst.

I'm not asking them to be the greatest, most talented defenders. At the very least, they need to just stay organized by talking to one another.

The first half passing around aimlessly and then back to JHS was equally frustrating. They need to communicate and move the ball quicker. Thankfully, the attack sorted itself out against the amateurs. But the defending... I'm not so sure we're going to get it together in this tournament...

But what about our defenders? They were hardly convincing. :ninja:

Yup, 정신력 and 집중력 is what most of our players nowadays lack, but we can't take anything away from him today.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming him for it. He had huge expectations when he went to Bayer, but then found himself in a second season slump with completely shut out of the team, it's not surprising he's shaken mentally.

And yes, he was by far the best player today.

Not saying you did at all just agreeing with the fact that he put himself in that situation.

I think RSW has pushed MCJ aside in the starting XI for the next match...

What a sweet shot. More reason to start him imo, I hope he can build more confidence off this Olympics run. We have a solid chance to steal a win vs Germany

Exactly. RB Salzburg don't really care whether Hwang develops or not. They've bought a dozen young players, and just expect to hit jackpot on one of them. Pohang, on the other hand, saw him as a franchise player who would become the face of Pohang in the coming years and would have done everything for Hwang to develop. He was misguided by the agents who wanted to make quick money.

THIS!!! I wish Shin Tae-Yong could see this. We always knew that the defense was our problem since the U-23 AFC Championship. The reason we had so many training camps and friendlies was to increase defensive organisation, and imo, we haven't improved at all.

Our players are never going to outscore the likes of Brandt or Gnabry, which means that we need to have a competent defence. It's so frustrating to see that every match we play vindicates what I think about the team, decent attack, but lack of communication and disorganisation at the back.

It seems like the pressure got to Moon today. He didn't play like this in the friendlies.

It's surprising to see him fold to pressure against Fiji. I also think part of it has to do with his lack of any physique. He just got swatted away a few times by the Fiji defenders and looked intimidated by them. He looked terrified about being injured again.

Sigh. No amount of prep would turn these jokers into even Hoffenheim caliber.

We can just hope that Germany dont bring their shooting shoes.

I wouldn't hope for a win against Germany but a win against Mexico is definitely in the cards and kinda necessary if we lose to Germany.

At least we have Kim Dong Jun. Could've been worse. (Remember when we had Jung Sung Ryong who got injured and we had to play with Lee Bum Young against Brazil in 2012?)
