Now that the MLS schedule is out, I anticipate that the USLPro schedule will be soon behind. With Real Monarchs playing in the same stadium as RSL, I assume the RSL schedule had to be set first, and the Real Monarchs fixed around it.
Here's a little bit of news about where the red bulls might playhttp://www.empireofsoccer.com/bulls-field-york-31309/
I doubt Toronto will - their academy team plays in purpose build complex within Downsview Airport. Also, BMO will be unavailable until early May - between then and the end of October, BMO is free for only 10 weekends, and I think 1 will be taken up by the Pan-Am games. What might be an option is having double headers - MLS reserve team plays at the same venue a few hours before the MLS match. Not too sure what MLS would think about this, or if the fields in question could handle 2 matches in 1 day.
Yep, TFC Academy have been playing there since 2012. I should note however that TFC havent confirmed that they will play their reserves there. There have been discussions with various locations with GTA.
Looks like on Google Maps that the Academy at Downsview Park doesn't have a stadium to hold more than 100 people. Am I looking at the wrong place? https://www.google.com/maps/place/D...k!3m1!1s0x882b31f34ec495c9:0x6f8358ed07e82495
I wonder where it is then? I guess we can just ignore the fact that USL Pro used to require stadiums with higher capacity.
I think the google map is old. Going into streetview, the images are dated August 2011! Here is a pdf from the complexes website of the grounds. There is a nice picture on page 13 that shows a reasonable sized stand. There is also this from a real estate website. Both look vastly different, so who knows what the place actually looks like! I was in Toronto last year, wish I visited the park now, or at least looked out of the window when my plane landed/took off haha
Am I supposed to be impressed by the line, "A bankrupt soccer league had just vacated the premises and a new plan for the asset was required" ? Or that the "reasonable sized stand" overlooks a running track? Or do we need the Rolling Stones or the Pope to appear, to get any attendance?
Just watched the USL Pro weekly review video on youtube, and Max Lom mentioned discussing the schedule on next week's episode. Hopefully that means a schedule coming out late this week / early next week. A boy can dream...
Schedule news: We are working overtime to get it done; full schedule will be announced Monday.— USL Championship (@USLChampionship) January 30, 2015 We know how eager everyone is to start planning, so we will release home openers for each club here on SATURDAY.— USL Championship (@USLChampionship) January 30, 2015
Interesting that they go to start out the season with rialry matches. I do not know if I like the idea. Rivalry games and home openers are both ways for teams to bring in good crowds, and to put them on the same day does not seem smart.
http://uslpro.uslsoccer.com/scripts/runisa.dll?M2:gp::72013 L3/Display E NDX NDX 860160 3/21 is PROBABLY the earliest opening ever for DIII, but would have to check. Probably by about a week. But September 20 HAS to be the latest end to a DIII regular season. 73% of games are on weekends (58% on Saturdays). Montreal has 8 midweek games, Real Monarchs have 6, Tulsa 5. No other non-MLS O&O has as many as Tulsa.
Kenn, how do the % games on weekend figures compare to last year? Just on first glance ... it looks like the midweek games most teams play are a part of a 2 game road trip (geographically makes sense to play Seattle/Vancouver on 1 trip for a team like OKC). Hard to argue that they didn't do what they thought was best for each team, economically at least.
And just a glance seems to show that the back-to-backs are few, if any. If you count Friday as a weekend, it's 82% this year vs. 83% last year. Monday-Friday: 27% this year, 33% last year. Saturday-Sunday: 73% this year, 67% last year. Monday-Thursday: 18% this year, 17% last year.
