Yea we better take that Seattle game MUCH more seriously than or late late game midweek in LA last season...basically threw away any Supporters' Shield chance with that one

Or they get outbid. I don't think want to open up the rusty gates of RFK for these things, so they probably only offer the Plex, and if you're USSF, you gonna take the Plex or PPL? No brainer.
Actually they did apply to host both games, but so did the other 3 teams in the "regional group" so they all went in evenly to the blind draw, we just got picked last of the 4 instead of 1 or 2.
If the Cosmos could knock out both Manchester City USA and Red Bull Salzburg USA in one year, I would hail them as heroes.
But one large enough to take out all 3 clubs at once would surely destroy Qbert as well. They say you gotta break an egg...
Not singling you out, but wanted to point out this recent draw essentially ends the "bid" process USSF used to do. Now it is a blind draw and all teams who ask to be considered for home matches get exactly the same chance to host. No more of USSF putting their finger on the scale and "evaluating" bids. As FB points out, DC did ask to host both games, but so did everyone else in the group. DC just got the worst possible draw for them to get. Although they do have arguably the easiest group, and will host the semifinal if they get there against a South team which is arguably the second easiest group. So can't lay this outcome on DC's front office, they did their job. DC just got somewhat unlucky.
No problem, I misunderstood. I thought there was still a bidding process between the teams who applied to host games. Thanks.
Semifinal would certainly be at RFK. Unless there is a conflict or something like that, but even then DC could petition to have the date moved to accommodate. They might have to move it anyway as there is a conflict that week in MLS with us playing at NYCFC on Thursday the 13th with the semifinal scheduled for Tuesday-Wednesday the 11-12th. Final host will be a blind draw made before the semis. DC could host that too, but ironically the final is scheduled for Tuesday-Wednesday Sept 29-30, but we host NYCFC that Friday Oct 2. USSF might well be pulling for DC to lose before the semis and final. Oh, and Dempsey did get suspended for three MLS games. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...lint-dempsey-three-games-following-us-open-cu I was surprised by this as I don't believe it has ever happened before, and I mean c'mon what Blanco did was much worse. Then it occurred to me this might be MLS doing USSF a favor by suspending him now? Maybe making sure he is available for the Gold Cup, which is a USSF tournament? USSF has said they will make a suspension determination in a week, but now maybe go leniently because MLS acted? Interesting.
I'm glad it worked out that way, because his MLS salary is more than what the national team pays, so it hurts him more. It also hurts the team more, so maybe they will try to keep him under control. As far as the gold cup goes, I'm not so sure the team really needs him that much. There are other guys who can score and , if they need a douchebag, there is Jermain Jones.
NEWS: @NYCosmos have withdrawn from hosting potential #USOC2015 Quarterfinal. Should they advance, @PhilaUnion / @DCUnited winner will host.— U.S. Open Cup (@opencup) June 30, 2015 (can't find story on US Open Cup site or NY Cosmos site)
I do wonder what the US Open Cup will do if the Red Bulls beat the Cosmos, since they're stuck with a conflicting friendly at the same time as the QFs.
That is really, really weird. I was under the impression that the Cosmos were trying to base their legitimacy on the idea that they could beat MLS teams. That's tough to do when all your games are away.
http://www.bigapplesoccer.com/teams/cosmos2.php?article_id=41616 Unfortunately with no stadium of their own and Hofstra not available, They couldn't find a venue. Point taken though. The venue that was available Belsen, had a capacity of 2,500.
Personally I would love for us to get the RB B- team in the USOC and send our first team to put up 7 goals on them while they play a money game. Nothing would be typically more perfect.
There'll be a ton of fans in the parking lot for the PSG-Fiorentina friendly at 8pm in the same stadium. And the Metros have a friendly against Chelsea the next day. By the CBA agreements, they have to play two different lineups, supposedly. Thx, Jay!
