Very nice season preview. The Cosmos are who they are and being in NYC are in similar to the Yankees in that they will buy themselves the big names. Names and players who may be past their prime but still good players who are enjoying finishing good careers in the US and especially NYC.
With the winds of major change with MLS teaming with USL to form a true minor league/ development team for each club. Where their home growns and draft picks now able to stick with the club through its minor league team. whether these players choose College and PDL summer routes they can turn pro at an earlier age before, during, or after college if they choose now.
For NASL clubs there will still be plenty of talent from the US hiding in places where now MLS franchise academy exists and coming out of small colleges as well in places of no MLS influence.
In Canada MLS clubs really have not had ability to keep many Canadian Nationals and they end up spread all over the world in second tier leagues. Ottawa, FCE, and hopefully future Hamilton will work to get these guys back in Canada. MLS clubs of Homegrown Academy, PDL, and USL that will have no room on the MLS roster will now have some other clubs in Canada to go to at a higher than semi pro level leagues in Ontario and Quebec.
FTL will look to recruit from Brazil of course. Young players that may not be on MLS radars. Other Concacf countries of Central America and caribean will have some young gems that would be very exciteded to hit the pro level in the nicer confines of the US.
FCE looking in Iceland will be new but similar climates.

As for the Cosmos and their attempt at keeping world wide appeal they need not forget the NYC Metro that supports them. Got all games and a WorldOne Sports braodcast and sponsor partner not having their broadcast simulcast on e ESPN3 or a local NYC Network which available to all in the Metro NY region. It may be the Cosmos that fall from NASL and not the NASL falling. Once they can sift through all the redtape to get a stadium up their local profile seems to be getting lost
