A great debut from a great player! If it was Osako who had done this in his first match for a new club you wouldnt have kept quiet!
he was actually pretty good. In the first 30 minutes, most of Eibar's dangerous attacks started from his pressure which lead to Levante losing the ball or his interceptions. He was also very good in the triangulations with his teammates. His biggest faults were the missed goal and another chance where he could have done an assist but his cross was on the keeper. He was also not as good as in the first half apart from the goal action, in general. Levante's first goal was in part lucky. He's not a defender, he did what he could and nobody closed the guy down. Then there was a touch, maybe from Inui which somehow ended up helping the Levante player.
His assist probably earned him another start but he's gonna have to turn it up to remain in the team. Hopefully he raises to the challenge.
Any player who debutes with an assist like that is in most cases guaranteed a spot in the starting lineup the next match. And he is their most expensive player ever, so you can expect him to play even if he have a bad game every now and then.
I bet Spain is the absolutely right league for him, only problem can be the team. I don`t know them but they look weak financial, so let`s see what they can do this season. For now the look very good.
That said they didn't exactly break the bank for him so the pressure isn't as high as it was for, let's say, Nakata or Kagawa.
nice play @ '38, beats his man, then I wish he went for the shot, but he still made a good pass to Baston who unfortunately couldn't control couple of minutes ('40) later he gets a golden chance, makes the perfect run but in front of the keeper he can't control the ball...
I started watching for a minute that game and unfortunately it was that time you wrote about... Why there's panic in front of the goal? He did everything OK on both occasions up to the moment when he should shoot the ball.
another one @ 55' lol.. it's amazing how good he is with the off the ball movement and how crap he is when in front of the goal XD
It's obviously not about running but sensing the pass, timing the run against the defenders\offside, being in the right position. Inzaghi made his whole success on that, unfortunately Inui doesn't exactly have the goal instinct. At least he's good in getting those chances, hopefully he won't miss every week.
yeah and I don't see his instinct as particularly exceptional, maybe it's because I watch too much football. Quoting Inzaghi is probably some kind of Godwin point.
could also be because you didn't notice while I did. His runs were perfectly timed in the last match which is what allowed him to have those chances in the first place.
good pass that could've turned into a goal just before the end of the first half... he was also involved in the first goal (hockey pass)
