Pardon since I've probably stated this already in this thread, oops but I swear there was a Concacaf WC meme involving Dragon Ball Z in this thread.
Over 160+ mins of pure bunker ball , 3 Concacaf teams made the round of 16 ... 2 teams played Football Mexico & Costa Rica .. Klinsman proving that he is no tactician , any manager can easily decide to play bunker ball... The fact makes me happy though , Mexico has Lavolpe 2.0 , with player morale abilities , unbiased decision making and mostly Ballz to play Football .... Great leadership + Lavolpe = Piojo
No.. It takes consistency and a top league to be considered a world power and we would still lack both. Uruguay has won the WC twice and they are from being a world power. The same can be said about England with the exception that they have a top league so even if they haven't won anything they are always seen as contenders. Uruguay had a recent resurgence of talent that had an excellent 2010 WC and won the Copa America 11 other than that they had spent 16 years stuck in mediocrity.
I think this is something to take note of. Granted I haven't been around for all Mexican sides but I haven't seen us get the sort of plaudits we're getting in this World Cup since the 05/06 team.
I would place Netherlands at the Threshold of being a World Power similar to how France and Spain were for many years..
I think our chances are slightly better than they were against Argentina. Underdogs, yes but we can absolutely win. As stated before they looked much more human in their last games. Hopefully scoring 3 goals will give them even more confidence because that was the only thing lacking with this team. Having said that the draw becomes much more favorable if we get through...
The hand wringing over the US and their methods of obtaining results is getting tiresome. The only fools who believed the US would suddenly turn into an offensive juggernaut were some of their delusional fans. Much like the delusional bunch around here who thought we would win the WC after winning the gold medal. My biggest knock against the US has been the fact that they have never been consistent at the highest level. Reaching the round of 16 for the second time in a row is a worthy accomplishment for them and a step in the right direction. Tactically, they are much improved but it's no surprise they have resorted to a more refined style of counter attacking this time around. At the very least, they managed to impose themselves against Portugal, regardless of how poor the Portuguese have been this tournament. We'll see what they're made of against Belgium but I certainly don't fancy them as underdogs. The day I stopped being heavily invested in their failure was the day I truly began to appreciate Mexico's evolution. They do their thing, we do ours. We'll play against them next year and see where each one of us stacks up in comparison.
Damn Lil Algeria aka Paris is going crazy. I know hella Frenchies that hate it when they "riot" so I hope they keep rioting on past Ze Germans.
These guys are so freaking annoying. They kept everyone up the WHOLE night honking their horns and yelling at the top of their lungs. I mean, we get it, you're through.
Belgium reaction at Belgium forum Belgium mentality.... Man, they should aim to win the damn cup with the selection and draw they have.

World Cup goals by team 1. Bayern 13x 2. Barcelona 9x 3. Manchester United 8x 4. Real Madrid 5x 5. Porto 4x 6. PSV 3x And with Arias (Colombia), Wijnaldum (Netherlands), Depay (Netherlands) and Ruiz (Costa Rica) enough opportunities to score even more.
