From Arnim Whisler's Twitter: I read Cyrillic (Slavic) Arnim. In Russian/Serbo-Croatian that translate to "White" - Like in LeBlanc?
I'm satisfied with this trade. Well done Rory, Alyse and Arnim. The Red Stars did not give up any of their 2 top 5 picks and that was my big worry. This was a good deal. We welcome Karina Leblanc to Chicago and hope she plays like she did with the Thorns last season. She is also the type of person that can mentor the young but talented Taylor Vancil. Now let's look forward to the college draft.
So the first 2 picks for the Red Stars 3. CHI - Julie Johnston 4. CHI - Vanessa DiBernardo I know a little about Vanessa, Mr @MRAD12 what can you tell me about Julie?
So an update 1. Karina LeBlanc - GK - Allocation CAN 2. Adriana Leon - FW -Allocation CAN 3. Shannon Box - MD - Allocation USA 4. Christen Press- FW - Allocation USA 5. Amy LePeilbet -DF - 6. Rachael Quon - DF - Allocation CAN 7. Jen Hoy - FW 8. Alyssa Mautz - MD 9. Zakiya Bywaters - MD 10. Melisa Tancredi - FW 11. Leslie Osborne - MD 12. Lydia Vandenbergh - DF 13. Taryn Hemmings - DF 14. Lori Chalupny - MD 15. Jackie Santacaterina - DEF 16. Julianne Stich - FW 17. Taylor Vancil - GK 18. Michelle Wenino - DF IN Karina LeBlanc - GK Christen Press- FW Melisa Tancredi - FW Drafted Julie Johnston Vanessa DiBernardo Hayley Brock OUT Erin Mcleod - GK Maribel Dominguez - FW Diona Garza - MD Ella Masar - FW Inka Grings - FW Sonja Fuss - DEF
Johnston is a versatile player that can suit up in the midfield or defense. (She even played some forward this past season). She's a terrific ball-winner and is also dangerous on the set piece.
Chicago has really improved with their graphic design work. Very professional looking. Let's hope they put out some ads like this.
The Red Stars did well over the last 2 weeks. They didn't give away their 2 top 5 picks, got LeBlanc to replace Mcleod, which in the circumstance I'm OK with. They drafted the players I wanted. Well done Rory. Now the BIG question IMO is Amy Lepielbet. There has been very little talk from about her or from her. Will she be in a Red Stars uniform come opening day? Without a true stud Center Back, there may be problems.
Are there any doubts she will be? She's at the very end of her rehab and should be at 100% come preseason.
Welcome All new Red Stars players to Chicago. Be prepared to play with big heart and grit. You must have a never say die attitude and think you can win till the last whistle blows. The one advise I can give you, is: Listen to your Captain Lori Chalupny, she will teach you, she will show you by the numbers of how to win, how to have character, how to give and get respect, how to fight till the end and then win or lose, how to walk off the field with a smile because you know you gave it your all.

I was hoping the league would promote some healthy rivalries for the opening matches of the season....KC vs Chicago, Seattle vs Portland etc. but that's not the case. They couldn't leave out the new league darlings, Houston I guess.
KC vs CHI is already happening in preseason, not much incentive to put it so soon again in opening weekend. Besides, "rivalry weekend" in other leagues almost never occurs on opening weekend, it's usually mid-season or season-ending.
