Juan Ramirez, who is supposedly the Rapids second DP, has reportedly joined the team at the Desert Diamond Cup. Still no official announcement of anything by the Rapids.
just officially announced. BREAKING: Colorado Rapids sign Juan Ramirez from Argentinos Juniors as a Young DP #Rapids96 http://t.co/7cWtGbpwEP pic.twitter.com/u8M1JjFv4F— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) February 21, 2015
15 minutes later we get an official announcement. So I haven't heard any official announcement from the Rapids about season tickets being free this year...
Zambrano? Not happening unless you are throwing big money at him. I don't put too much stock in Transfermarkt.com's values but he is the 16th highest valued CB in the Bundesliga according to them. Alexander Madlung might be reasonable at sub-DP level but not Zambrano.
About SKC: would any team invest two DPs in center backs? I find that unlikely. If I'm paying to bring in a Euro ringer, I would want him on the offensive side, or able to affect it in a Jones sort of way.
I want to feel happy for John McCarthy signing with his hometown team. I really do. If only he wasn't a gk from Philadelphia ...
Writing was on the wall for Claros when Mustivar was signed. http://www.sportingkc.com/news/2015...s-midfielders-jorge-claros-and-james-marcelin
So uhhh... Vancouver Whitecaps sign 18 yr old left-sided Honduran U-20 Central Midfielder, Deybi Flores, on a one year loan with an option to buy from C.D. Motagua. http://www.whitecapsfc.com/news/2015/02/wfc-acquire-deybi-flores
Assume that he'll be primarily be playing on the II team on loan but will be used on the first team if he does well.
How much are they paying him? Where does the Portuguese third division rate compared to the various South American, Central American, and Caribbean leagues MLS usually pulls players from?
Yeah. There's every possibility he'll be a solid, serviceable, well-priced player. Aurelien Collin came out of a very unsexy background and really made a difference for SKC... you just never know. At least with defenders.
Collin played for a club in Portugal's top division. Anything's possible, but a 27 year old (Renato) who has sunk from the top division to the second division and then to the third division does not seem like a good bet for success to me. Time will tell.
Frankly, the bottom third of the Portuguese top flight is worse than MLS. Their third division must be atrocious.
In San Jose's defense, they have had him on trial for over a month now. So they should now more about the quality of the player than we do based off of looking at his playing history. I also think that they have deployed him as a d-mid in some games (that is based on line-ups and such, so I could be wrong on that). So I think they are just eyeing him as a back-up that they can use in multiple positions. He may be slightly better than a typical college kid and probably has a bit more technical ability. Not a sexy signing by any means, but he may just be there to be a serviceable back-up to an aging backline. Goodson and Bernardez are 33 this year and Harden is 30 while Wynne is 28, but who knows what position they have in mind for him.
Looks like Doyle to Colorado will probably happen but maybe not until summer based on Wolves' needs: http://www.independent.ie/sport/soc...ay-be-determined-by-wolves-fate-31026180.html
At this point I think I would take that over Texiera... Why did we release Escobar but then keep Texiera? I don't understand.
They had already purchased Texiera. Escobar was on loan and would have required a transfer fee and was likely 250k to 300k more expensive salary wise. If you've already made an investment in the transfer fee you'd like to try and see if you can get a return on that before you cut the player loose.
