Wah, that's great news. I'm happy for him. it is a great news from otherwise a gloomy weeks for Japanese player abroad
I've been one of the most critical against him so I am really happy to see this. Two great goals, specially against Leipzig.
Despite being pretty much outplayed he had a good game. Good passing. Calm with the ball. Scored a goal but was offside.
Starts against Ingolstadt and delivers an outrageous lofted through ball from a withdrawn position to set up Modeste's opener. Maybe the best double-CF combo in the league right now.
2nd assist by physically dominating an Ingolstadt defender in the box and drawing a penalty. Beast Mode.
Osako is in crazy form ^^, scored/assisted every game....even against Bayern last week he scored in an 1on1 against Baydern but was offside. Hope this is his wake up call and he can hold this level.
His close control and body balance in tight spaces are quite something - twice he was surrounded by two defenders, and the first time he spun away to draw a penalty, while the second time he drew a yellow card.
He deserves it for sure but I am not sure that this is the right point. I think he need time to convicing this level. He is a very good player but his last 2 seasons at Köln abroad from the last part of the first season which he was very good, like these days. I think NT and Köln can be to much for his attitude for now. But maybe its the right choice, everything can happen, who knows.
Osako is really adapting well after his last season where there was not much attention about him. Can't believe it, always thought Kakitani had more potential than him back then. Why couldn't Kakitani also made it in Europe.
I'm pretty sure Vahid will call him up next month. I'd start him at CF, potentially along with a strike partner. Kakitani's career is a series of failure to adapt to new environments and take responsibility for his own career. His periods of successes have come when his managers took him under their wings and kicked his ass daily in training. Sadly it wasn't surprising to see him fail to gain traction with Basel.
This is why i liked Levir Culpi a lot. He really knows how to manage players. BTW, which strike partner would you recommend for Osako?
Fans voted Osako as Köln's player of the month for September (he got 44% of the votes): https://www.fc-koeln.de/fc-info/news/detailseite/details/osako-ist-spieler-des-monats/
Osako hasn't been able to play close to the goal, but his hold-up play and physicality in his withdrawn position has been extraordinary. He beat up Weigl pretty good on both sides of the ball, and Tuchel identified him as one factor that made life difficult for BVB in the 1-1 draw.
His good season is getting recognition, he is on 8 th place for attackers in Kickers rating. With 3,13. Lewandowski is nr 1 with 2,77.
Has been alot of talks about language barrier recently. Sport Bild had an article about the foreign players in Bundesliga. And they say that Osako can understand the language well but rarely speaks it.
