College Basketball has tanked since around 2010. The play, competitiveness and the skills have declined across the board. I was watching the Duke-UNC game on ESPN Classic (from 2005) the passion, skill and energy then was incredible. Now I nod off to these terrible games.
Smith was a great coach and a great person. Always liked Coach Smith. He seemed genuine and cared about his players. RIP Coach Smith.
Is the interest in college basketball that low I believe it is. If this was 2005 this thread would be huge I use to life college BB but it has declined IMO. I love UNC-Duke rivalry watching the game now but it doesn't have the same luster it once had.

I can throw out the 8os big east battles, 90s acc/big east and big ten glory out as well. 20o2-2009 era was the last great time in college hoops in recent memory and 2005 was the peak especially as a tarheel fan.
That was a foul it's all good Duke is going to get bounced from the early rounds of the tournament again this year.
