Many thanks! The Yanks are out! And LOL at Pettitte losing his home finale. It's a good day. Not hating, but I just couldn't stomach A-Roid in the post-season. Ok, I'm hating a little but whatever...
who at the beginning of the season could have guessed what this final series against the padres would mean? but who could have guessed that even for these games, lowest available ticket price would be $20? and i do not mean seat prices since this is SR. i wonder if the seat nazis would keep you from upgrading even if the park was half empty? i remember going to a similar series at the end of the season in '75 (maybe '76) and i think it was against the padres then too (perhaps the astros, some no account team in turd-colored unis anyway). we had lower box right behind the plate, free gratis for nothing. there were perhaps less than a thousand people in the 'stick! what i remember most was the quantity of foul balls we took home. you didn't need a glove, you didn't need to fight for them... just walk over and pick them up, and to save steps, wait until there were 2 or 3 before getting up. we used empty beer buckets to carry them out, i think the next day we brought backpacks. i think we had 50 or 60 by the end of the 3 game series; our college only played softball but one of the guys coached at san carlos high, so we gave them to him.
