Eiji speaking french in the press conference, says that the team has yet to concede a goal in these playoffs and this gives good confidence to them. Said that Zulte is doing a fantastic season though and it will be hard.

It was a bit worrying at the start of the season but it's nice that they're finishing strongly now.

They lost big today. May lose Europa League play off place. 2 matches left.

Today's match will decide it - meaning if they lose they're out of UEFA.
And it's going to be very hard honestly, as they need a win and not a draw in an away game.

Also Eiji might not play as the club wants to give a bit of space to the 2nd GK it seems.

Nice time to try the 2nd GK.
Hope it will be not like when Eiji "steal" Kawaguchi starting spot ;)

Drew 1-1. Still a little chance to make it to the EL playoffs at least: last game is a home game and Genk has a difficult away game. If Standard wins, they get 4th if Genk loses or draws.

Has nothing to do with giving game time to the 2nd GK. Why on earth would you replace your no1 goalie for an important game... Rednic blamed Eji - and only Eji - for the 2-4 defeat against Club Brugge last Sunday. Check the article below
    http://translate.google.com/transla...sblad.be/sportwereld/cnt/DMF20130512_00578434

Eji didn't look 100% with the 2nd goal but even analysts agree that none of the conceded goals were real errors by him. Standard's defense on the other hand made some blatant errors leading to the goals but for some reason they're not mentioned by Rednic. Strange things going on again in Liege!

They won though. They reached the Europa league play off spot.

    Is he injured?

No they didn't. They have to play Gent, unfortunately, who wins gets that spot. Apparently Genk won the Belgian cup and therefore you should count them as above Standard.

Eiji is out as punishment as he was considered "responsible" for the previous defeat by the coach, though it was debated if it really was the case
Hilariously the 2nd GK was even worse than him today lol

I hope that idiot of a coach will change his ill mind by the next, important match against Gent.
Has the 2nd gk ever done some amazing saves as Eiji did in some of the Standard matches I watched?
If not, please mr.Coach don't make any noise and put Kawashima in the starting line up now.

Rednic said he would use the 2nd GK for the rest of the season. Kawashima wasn't even on the bench the last 2 games. But then again, we're talking bout Standard... so you'll never know!

Better for Eiji to come back to Japan and be ready for the upcoming JNT matches, they are a load and he will better to perform well and change his team than in the summer.
