Eric Chavez would be an excellent pickup. I've always been a fan. Ibanez..... well he's still good but i am kinda meh on that one. I thought bringing back Johnny D. would have been better. Who cares if he can't field anymore. You're signing him as a DH.

Johnny did seem like a good idea, however it seems there are certain reasons why nobody has picked him up yet...

Ohhhh... i didn't know that. That is a perfectly logical reason. Taking pitches was one of his best attributes. I liked that a lot about him.

    Roster's set then.

Here we go folks. Pitchers and catchers were yesterday or do they report today?

They reported yesterday. First workout today.

Still looking to wrap up signing Eric Chavez, then they're done.

I assume they're doing it to sell some tickets. Oakland has a history of picking up washed-up power guys for DH. They had Frank Thomas when the White Sox got rid of him and signed Giambi after he was finished with us. Hideki Matsui was there last season.

If Manny makes the team, he will have to serve his 50-game drug suspension. He'll be back May 30 -- his 40th birthday! -- assuming no rainouts. I'm sure the Angels are now terrified of the A's.

I sure hope the New York press doesn't switch from Lin-sanity to Mo-hysteria. Leave him alone!

The guy wasn't going to be around forever and Mo isn't the type to hang on until they have to cut the uniform off of him. I think his off-season throat surgery perhaps had an effect on him and gave Mariano something to think about. He's a very religious man although he doesn't wear it on his sleeve. I'm sure he's at peace with his career and success and believes the time to move on with his life is almost here. Let's all enjoy his remaining time in baseball and not make a soap opera extravaganza out of it.
