Considering his relatively shorter height and lighter weight (compared to most pitchers), it's no wonder that he has to use such an exaggerated pitching motion. Whatever works, though... -G
so distinctive. i'm sure hitters all over the league (both leagues now) have nightmares about how he wags those shoulders and wake up in cold sweats all winter long.
Just as a correction from an earlier post, the Giants led the National League in wins in the 60's but were 2nd overall behind Baltimore.
Though to be fair: $2.50 in 1976 U.S. dollars (to use a year from your previous example) was about $8.02 in 2003 U.S. dollars. -G
Closer Brian Wilson is scheduled to appear tonight (Thursday, 11/4/10) on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. -G
It was beyond insane. Too many people. But a great experience. Can't believe some brought infants with them. Obviously a bunch of people got drunk and were rude, took me 30 mins to get to a BART turnstille, but seeing a sea of Orange was well worth it. Next year, TV.
yes but i was talking about 1990 dollars. i've got (by coincidence i counted them just last night) 104 stubs from 88/89/90 in a metal box with all the G's topps cards from '88, about 20 from '89, and a dozen cap badges including the dravecky comeback and ONE croix de candlestick... which i didn't even earn myself, one of the guys in the LF foulpole gang gave it to me. he asked me one afternoon, "dude, you're here a lot, how is it you got no croix?" it's true i favored day games, and there were lots of them in those years, but actually i had come really close more than once. a couple of nights i stayed but we lost. once i remember we beat the bums with 6 runs in in the bottom of the 9th and walked off with still zero outs. and the worst was when my wife was so fed up with the cold and wind that i was faced with a choice between the 14th inning stretch or divorce. we've been married 22 wonderful years now so i made the right decision, but when i read in the sporting green (it really was green back then) that the giants had won, it was decided from then on she'd stay home. anyway, that's the sob story that ended with, "here dude, have one of mine i got plenty".
i've got a poster of the 1990 team on the wall next to my desk... it's the only one i have so i've had to stare at the big grin of that frigging traitor brett butler every working day for 17 years.
Ah, Candlestick.....memories of cold, windy days, peanuts, blanket, and Shooter. I came to US in 1992, so started following Giants in 1993.
Brian Wilson represented the 2010 MLB World Series Champion San Francisco Giants and the Bay Area quite admirably. He even let Jay Leno hold the Commissioner's Trophy. -G

Yet another (albeit unexpected) benefit of being part of the reigning World Champion San Francisco Giants : "Fans try to get Giants' Wilson as host of 'SNL'" (Friday, 11/5/10) -G
